2009 Mountain Cuvee
Napa Valley
Our 2009 Mountain Cuvee shows the appealing depth and nuance of a true Bordeaux blend. The aromas offer a complex mélange of spicy red fruit, rum raison, cedar, sweet tobacco, clove, cinnamon, dark chocolate and bay leaf. On the palate, the texture is smooth and lush, with lingering flavors of sweet cherry and plum. Though there is ample weight and richness, elegance is really the theme of this complex and balanced wine. Winery.

Mer Soleil
2009 Chardonnay
Central Coast
Citrus-driven nose. Hints of matchstick, pineapple, banana and coconut. Soft and round entry. Oak is apparent but not defining. Mid-palate goes on to reveal other layers of flavors—vanilla, lemon meringue pie, and again coconut. Finish is rich with viscosity that coats the mouth for minutes after your last sip.

Domaine des Aubuisieres
2010 Cuvee de Silex Vouvray
Loire Valley
A superb, essentially dry Vouvray that sells for a song, the 2010 Cuvee Silex exhibits wonderfully flowery, melony aromas in its fragrant aromatics along with medium-bodied, crisp, pure flavors and an attractive flinty character. There is some residual sugar, but good acidity largely masks that component. Enjoy it over the next 1-2 years.

Seghesio
2009 Old Vine Zinfandel
Sonoma County
Deeply perfumed aromas of dark berries and old vine Zin's intrinsic briary spiciness. Layered bright fruit flavors reminiscent of a rich berry pie with a toasted crust. Old vine Zinfandel's complex spice undertones. Low yields in the vineyard preserved the vibrant natural acidity and balanced tannins. Long, persistent finish.

Northstar
2007 Merlot
Columbia Valley
The 2007 Merlot Columbia Valley was blended from 14 vineyards while the wine was made with 40-60% whole berries depending upon the site. It was aged for 18 months in 60% new French oak. It reveals a nose of pain grille, pencil lead, spice box, lavender, cassis, and black currant. Medium to full-bodied on the palate, this impeccably balanced wine is loaded with raspberry, plum, and black fruit flavors, has outstanding density, and a long, fruit-filled finish. Give it another 3 years of cellaring and drink it from 2013 to 2022.

2010 the Prisoner
Napa Valley
The 2010 vintage of The Prisoner has a deep ruby hue that is nearly opaque. The aromas elevate from the glass starting with black currant, dark blackberry, cherry, and cassis rounded out by subtle hints of seasoned French and American oak. The entry of the wine is massive and leads into a lush middle framed by bright acid and supple tannins. The finish is long, lingering and filled with soft velvety tannins lasting for nearly thirty seconds. This is a sexy wine with great polish and verve. Very drinkable now, it will benefit from 12-18 months in the bottle. Winery notes.

2009 Pinot Noir
Hallberg Ranch Russian Rivery Valley
The wine has great depth, dark crimson color, and notable intensity—reminiscent of our 2007s. Overall, we are pleased with the deep colors, variety of flavors, great balance, elegant style, and rarity of the wines. It is rich without being heavy, and embodies what I am looking for in a Pinot: power and finesse. Dare I say iron fist in a velvet glove. Winery notes.
