White Wine of the Month
Schweiger Vyrds
2012 Chardonnay
Spring Mountain District

92 Best Values Selection

Our 2012 Chardonnay is a full bodied wine with true varietal characteristics, hints of pear, kiwi, citrus, and apricots, and delicate undertones of oak and tropical fruits.  The body of the wine is rich and supple, filling the mouth with flavors.  The true nature of Spring Mountain Chardonnay comes through in the mineral character, more reminiscent of a classic Mersault than your typical California Chardonnay.

 Red Wine of the Month
Chateau St Roch
2012 Kerbuccio
Maury Sec

90 Wine Advocate
The 2012 Kerbuccio is from the newly created appellation of Maury Sec, which is a classification above Cotes du Roussillon Villages. From pure black schist soils, this blend of 40% Syrah, 30% Mourvedre and 30% Grenache aged in concrete offers wonderful flowery notes (violets) intermixed with melted chocolate, kirsch and a hint of Provencal garrigue. Full-bodied, rich, deep and totally dry, this is a seriously endowed, fleshy, full-throttle red to drink over the next 3-4 years.

 Orin Swift
2013 Cabernet Sauvignon
Mercury Head
Napa Valley

98 Robert Parker

The 100% Cabernet Sauvignon aged 18 months in 50% new French oak, is the 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Mercury Head. Certainly one of the more intriguing labels, with a real Mercury-head dime embedded in the glass bottle, this 4,500-case cuvée comes from blocks in Taplin, Morisoli and Atlas Peak vineyards. The final blend is a selection of their best barrels, bottled and aged another six months prior to release. This is a killer Cabernet Sauvignon, full-bodied and multilayered, with stunning blueberry and blackberry fruit, floral acacia notes, a hint of brioche and subtle toasty oak followed by a massive, full-bodied wine with sweet tannin and beautifully integrated acidity, alcohol and wood. This profound Cabernet Sauvignon should drink well now and for 25+ years. Dave Phinney may well be 2015's winemaker of the year for this wine taster.
