Wine Advocate 100 Rating
Fabulous purity of crushed fruit – strawberries and raspberries, with hints of fresh roses. Full-bodied, with an amazing concentration and a palate that goes on and on and on. Ultraripe tannins. This is the Romanée-Conti of Barolo. Terrific balance and richness. From selected parcels in Giacosa's Falletto vineyard. First made in 1997. Best after 2012. Only 1,200 cases made.

A burst of black fruit, mocha, espresso and licorice hits the palate as the 2009 Syrah Next of Kyn shows off its inimitable personality. There is a pure voluptuousness in the 2009 that is striking. The immense purity of the fruit gives the 2009 tons of elegance and character. At the same time, big, rich, silky tannins form a backbone that allows the wine to show its expressiveness and pedigree. The 2009 is shaping up to be a jewel of a wine. In 2009, the blend is 80% Syrah, 14% Grenache and 6% Roussanne, all destemmed. The wine spent 30 months in French oak. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2024.

2010 Next of Kyn No 4 Cumulus Vineyard Syrah – 98 pts – OWC 3 x 750ml & 1 x 1500ml$1,995.95
Wine Advocate 98 Rating
The 2010 Cumulus Vineyard #4 is an off-the-hook effort that showed even better than last year. Made from 44% Syrah, 32% Grenache, 12% Petite Sirah, 8% Mourvedre and 4% Touriga Nacional, it’s mostly destemmed (24% whole cluster) and aged 30 months in 30% new French oak. It boasts incredible aromatics of cassis, blackberry, white chocolate, flowers and spice-box to go with a full-bodied, incredibly pure, seamless and textured feel on the palate. Still a baby, this puppy has a long life ahead of it; give it another year or so and enjoy bottles through 2030.

Torrin 2012 Tsundere Paso Robles
Wine Advocate 95 Rating
The 2012 Tsundere is all estate fruit and is made from 43% Cabernet Sauvignon, 41% Tannat, 13% Grenache and the rest Syrah. Full-bodied, concentrated and yet polished and seamless (which is surprising given the large percentage of Tannat), it reveals loads of complexity in its rose petal, spice, spring flowers, chocolate and exotic red and black fruits. It's drinking nicely as well, but I can't imagine it not evolve nicely for at least another decade.
Aubert 2013 Pinot Noir UV-SL Vineyard Sonoma
Antonio Galloni 96 Rating
Layers of dark, inky fruit built to a crescendo of intensity and juiciness. Hints of lavender, spices and violets wrap around the finish, with plenty of support from beams of underlying tannin.

2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa/Sonoma
Wine Enthusiast 94 Rating
The producer sources from both sides of its bi-county property for this lovely concoction, a mouthfilling mix of black pepper, juicy black plum and berry. Intriguing and complex, it's sublimely elegant, with a dusting of chocolate shavings on the long, velvety finish.

2011 Barbaresco Ovello Piedmont Italy
Antonio Galloni 94+ Rating
The 2011 Barbaresco Riserva Ovello, from one of the coolest zones in Barbaresco, is superb. Here it is the wine's precision and energy – both hard to come by in 2011 – that really stand out. Pine, mint, chalk, bright red berries, blood orange and white pepper are some of the signatures in a brilliant, finely-cut Barbaresco that captures the best of both the vintage and this site. Don't miss it!
Conti Costanti 2010 Brunello di Montalcino Tuscany
Wine Enthusiast 98 Rating
Aromas of ripe black skinned fruit, new leather, menthol and a whisper of blue flower unfold on this stunning, elegantly structured wine. The vibrant palate doles out ripe black cherry, cinnamon and star anise framed in firm, fine-grained tannins. Hold for even more complexity. Absolutely superb. Drink 2022–2035.
