Bydand Wines 2018 Red Blend

Napa Valley California
Enjoyabilityfactor 97 Rating
A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Bravo! As this wine ages in your cellar the score will surely go up based on the price today. Fortunately, you can pop & pour this incredibly, outstanding Napa gem now. The color is deep purple just like you'd expect from this Paulliac like wine. The bouquet of creme de cassis, black-fruits and liquid violet give this wine the textbook nose you'd pick out blind for a great Napa red. The purity of fruit drives the rich, deep, full-bodied, seductiveness right into the sweet tannins. Classic stuff. R15-2

Product Description

We source Bydand Chardonnay from one of the crown jewels of the esteemed Sangiacomo winegrowing family: Roberts Road Vineyard in the Petaluma Gap AVA. Marked by coastal winds, foggy mornings, and well-draining gravel soils, this site enjoys a long, slow, and even growing season. We source our Chardonnay from Dijon clone 95 vines planted in 1999, which yield vibrant fruit with complex minerality, white citrus, pear, and stone fruit aromas.
This small, sustainably farmed vineyard perches on a south-facing ridge in the Sebastopol Hills area of the esteemed Russian River Valley AVA, and has produced exceptional Pinot Noir for us since our first vintage. Third-generation farmer David Umino rejected early assessments that the site was too cool for viticulture, and planted Pinot Noir there in 1996. The cold maritime winds that worried the “experts” in fact help to modulate ripening, and protect the grape’s natural purity and balance – resulting in fruit-driven wines with complex mineral notes. This site combines the best of the earthy west Sonoma Coast and the richly-fruited Russian River.
Our Estate Vineyard nestles in the volcanic soils of Napa Valley’s Coombsville AVA, surrounded by some of the area’s most renowned and historic sites. This region’s bowl-shaped caldera captures cool, moist marine air and extends the growing season well into fall – allowing grape clusters to ripen leisurely to full phenolic maturity. Volcanic ash and gravelly loam soils provide excellent drainage, and just the right amount of stress for the vines to produce their best. First planted in 1991, our estate vineyard comprises 11 acres of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc.
