Artisan Cheeses:
MontAmore inspired by Italian Piave, MontAmoré® is a cow milk aged cheese with a distinct crystalline crunch yet possessing a creamy texture. With the fruity hints of a parmesan and a unique tangy finish, this cheese has excellent melting characteristics and provides a standout flavor in cheese blends.
Castello aged Havarti Native to Denmark it is creamy in body with crunchy flecks of salt crystals along with undertones of caramel and nuts. Being a semi-hard cheese, it has a springy texture with subtle sweet and acidic notes. Lusciously smooth, Havarti is balanced and mild enough to suit all palates, with the piquant flavors harmonizing perfectly with salads, sandwiches as well as on its own.
Boar’s Head Aged Gouda is rich and complex with sweet, salty and sharp notes and a hint of butterscotch, this import from Holland is aged for over 28 months in the traditional Dutch manner for a firm texture and unique taste. Boar’s Head Aged Gouda Cheese has a vibrant golden hue and a distinctly sharp flavor.
And gourmet cupcakes for dessert!
Domaine du Pegau 2019 Chateauneuf du Pape Blanc Southern Rhone Valley France
Wine Advocate 95 Rating
Pegau’s 2019 Châteauneuf du Pape Blanc Cuvée Réservée is almost Burgundian in character, the way it balances upfront generosity with mouthwatering length. The flavors are different, offering hints of crushed stone, underripe pineapple, white peach and dried spices, then this medium to full-bodied wine adds vaguely chalky textural elements on the long finish. Silky and streamlined, it does a wonderful job of preserving freshness throughout.
E. Guigal 2016 Gigondas Southern Rhone Valley France
Jeb Dunnuck 95 Rating
The finest effort I’ve tasted from this estate’s Gigondas, their 2016 is a drop-dead gorgeous wine that competes with the best in the appellation. Loads of framboise, lavender, garrigue, and hints of game emerge from this sweetly fruited, full-bodied, powerful yet elegant Gigondas. It’s beautiful wine and I continue to believe that 2016 is one of the greatest vintages ever (if not the greatest) for the Southern Rhône. You can drink this beauty any time over the coming 15-20 years.
Ceretto 2016 Barbaresco Piedmont Italy
Wine Spectator 94 Rating
Bright cherry and strawberry fruit glides over a backbone of dusty tannins in this linear red. Balanced and harmonious, with a long aftertaste that shows floral, tobacco and spicy notes. Best from 2023 through 2043.
Clos Cantenac 2012 Saint-Emilion Grand Cru Bordeaux France
Wine Enthusiast 91 Rating
Big and bold, this new-wood-aged wine is developing well. With mint aromas, coffee and toast on the palate and ripe blackberry fruits, it has a good future. It’s dense, solid and dark in character at this stage. Drink from 2017.
Bernard Magrez 2014 Chateau Les Grands Chenes Red Blend Bordeaux France
James Suckling 93 Rating
Aromas of blackberries, walnuts, chocolate and even some mushrooms. Full-bodied, dense and layered with lots of berries and dark chocolate. Fresh and vibrant. Best ever? Drink in 2021.
Castellare di Castellina 2017 iL Poggiale Chianti Classico Riserva Tuscany Italy
James Suckling 93 Rating
Solid and beautiful with sliced strawberries and cherries, as well as floral and citrus character and hibiscus-tea undertones. Medium to full body and round, creamy tannins. So delicious. Drink or hold.
Bertani 2017 Amarone Veneto Italy
Decanter Magazine 95 Rating
Bertani Domains is owned by the Angelini group but operates independently, sourcing grapes exclusively from historic estates in the Valpantena at Grezzana, and in the Classico zone at Novare. Bertani’s Classico is legendary for its longevity. The Valpantena in contrast offers immediacy without renouncing on an authentically plummy Amarone character. Aged in traditional oak barrels, the nose has autumn fruit and violets with a hint of spice; the palate features super-fine tannins and a long, precise finish.
Domaine Huet 2018 Vouvray Premiere Moelleux Loire Valley France
Wine Advocate 95 Rating
Dessert
The 2018 Vouvray Le Haut-Lieu Moelleux is clear and seductively ripe on the elegant, still yeasty nose with a mineral backbone and its chalky background. Sweet and lush but fine and filigreed on the palate, this is a salty, frisky, elegant, densely woven and well-structured Haut-Lieu with fine tannins and a long, complex finish that is rich and finessed at the same time, with lingering piquancy and stimulating salinity. This 2018 is a very charming but also serious Chenin Blanc with fine tannins, good tension and aging potential.
