Description

Turley 2016 Zinfandel Hayne Vineyard
Napa Valley California
Wine Advocate 97 Rating

The 2016 Zinfandel Hayne Vineyard is spectacular, bursting from the glass with a captivating bouquet in which aromas of rose petals, ripe cherries and wild berries mingle with nuances of spice and coniferous forest floor. Full-bodied, satiny and expansive on the palate, it’s multidimensional, succulent and juicy, with amazing weightless intensity, concluding with a long, perfumed finish. To my palate, this wine’s singular personality makes it one of the most distinctive produced in California.

Carlisle 2013 Petite Sirah Palisades Vineyard
Napa Valley California
Wine Spectator 93 Rating

Toasted herb and cedar notes offer details of cumin, chai tea and caramel that bring a warm element to the blueberry muffin and blackberry flavors. Thickly tannic but polished and refined. Drink now through 2030. 165 cases made.

Epoch Estate Wines 2017 Syrah Block B
Paso Robles California
Jeb Dunnuck 97 Rating

It’s always a more masculine, powerful Syrah, and the 2017 is no exception. It delivers loads of black fruits, bloody meat, marine-like salinity and minerality, full-bodied richness, sweet tannins, and a blockbuster of a finish. This shows the sexy, ripe style of the vintage, and while it’s a joy to drink today, it certainly has a solid decade of life ahead of it.

Tapiz 2014 Las Notas De Jean Claude
Mendoza Argentina
Wine Advocate 95 Rating

The super-classical 2014 Las Notas de Jean Claude is a superb red blend of 84% Merlot, 12% Cabernet Franc and 4% Petit Verdot from their vineyard in San Pablo in the Uco Valley at some 1,350 meters in altitude. This is taken from a specific plot planted 19 years ago and selected by consultant Jean-Claude Berrouet of Petrus fame. This wine is all about elegance, balance and finesse and goes well beyond the varieties, which play a secondary role. The palate reveals very fine tannins and superb acidity; it’s ripe and full of flavors and nuance. Beautiful.

Krutz Family 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Georges III Vineyard
Napa Valley California
Wine Advocate 97 Rating

The 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Georges III Vineyard is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, aged in French oak for 23 months, 75% new. Deep garnet-purple in color, it springs from the glass with exuberant notions of warm cassis, Black Forest cake, plum preserves and blueberry compote with fragrant wafts of violets, menthol and chocolate box. Full-bodied and decadently fruited, with a wonderfully plush texture, it has bags of spicy black fruit flavors and a very long finish. Only 300 cases were made.

Jim Barry 2012 The Armagh Shiraz
South Australia
Wine Advocate 98+ Rating

Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2012 Shiraz The Armagh offers a gorgeous perfume of baking spices, violets, Sichuan pepper and fragrant earth. More earthy and savory in the mouth than on the nose, the palate is superbly structured and taut—built for the long-haul—with a long, complex finish. Still very youthfully, forget this wine for 3-5 more years and consider drinking it over the next 20+.
