This Chardonnay, fermented entirely in stainless steel tank, is a fresh take on the style. Boisterous aromas of orange blossom, litchee, white peach and candied pear announce its playful personality, while the palate displays a hint of oiliness and richness. The wine is a blend of grapes from two Yountville vineyards: our estate-owned Deux Chevaux Vineyard and the Nord family’s Trio B vineyard. It is delicious in its youth but may also be cellared to enjoy after some time in bottle.

Each clone contributes its own unique flavors and attributes to the final cuvée, which is rounded out by 14 months’ aging in pristine French oak barrels, with just enough lees stirring to add richness to the midpalate without sacrificing fruit intensity. The aromas deliver hickory and cherry wood smoke, dense blackberry and blueberry jam, cigar box, toffee, and crushed rock. Flavors of blackberry and black cherry intermingle with tobacco leaf, black licorice, and fennel bulb. The expansive tannins coat the palate, lending a warm, luxurious feel to the wine. The finishing tannins are very fine-grained and persistent.
