No Girls 2013 Syrah la Paciencia Vineyard

Moving to the Syrah, the 2013 Syrah la Paciencia is another pretty, perfumed, medium to full-bodied effort that reminds me of a Cote Rotie from the southern, Cote Blonde end of the appellation. Crushed flowers, raspberries, violets, incense and dried herbs all emerge from this elegant, seamless Syrah that has fine tannin and a clean, focused finish. It will drink well for a decade. The 2015 Syrah la Paciencia Vineyard is very impressive, unfurling in the glass with a wonderfully savory bouquet of tapenade, dark chocolate, bresaola, cassis, currant leaf, potpourri and mandarin oil. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, layered and complete, but it's quite serious and tight-knit despite its structural refinement and will certainly reward patience. Pure and complete, it concludes with a long, sapid finish. R2-2 SP15-1 -

The base 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley is terrific, and while I don’t know the price, I suspect it’s a great value. Deep purple-hued, with terrific mulled currant and blackberry fruits, it has lots of ripe herbal, chocolaty spice notes, full-bodied richness, sweet tannins, and a great finish. This is pure Napa Valley goodness to drink over the coming 10-15 years.

$29.99Sicily Italy
Decanter Magazine 91 Rating
Named after the road that flanks the estate, Sp68 is an entry-level blend of Nero d’Avola and Frappato. It offers a taste of the estate’s signature style at an affordable price, displaying inviting aromas of ripe strawberries and raspberries, with some floral and herbal elements in the background. Ripe acidity underpins the mid-weight core of sweet red fruits, making for a deliciously easy-going mouthfeel with a briny and peppery finish. Aged for approximately six months in concrete vats. Jeb Dunnuck 95 Rating
The 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon is gorgeous with classic Stags leap purity and finesse in its cassis and black raspberry fruits as well as chalky minerality, flowers, and spicy, graphite-like notes. Full-bodied, concentrated, and pure on the palate, it has fine tannins, beautiful balance, and a great finish. It’s concentrated, but this is more about finesse and elegance. BX-6

Composed of 81% Cabernet Sauvingon, 15% Petit Verdot and 4% Cabernet Franc, the 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Apassionata has an inky purple-black color and conjures notions of crème de cassis, chocolate box and aniseed with hints of chargrilled meat, fertile earth and menthol. Opus One 2018 Red
$399.99Napa Valley California
James Suckling 99 Rating
Extremely perfumed and floral with lavender, lilacs and violets to the sweet, ripe berries, such as blackberries and blackcurrants. Some slate and graphite, too. It’s full-bodied, yet ever so balanced and refined, with super fine tannins that last for minutes. Fresh herbs, such as bay leaf and lemon grass highlight the dark fruit. The quality of tannin is exquisite with wonderful polish and refinement. Lasts for minutes. So wonderful to taste now, but better after 2026. SP26-7
