Piero Benevelli 2016 Barolo Le Coste di Monforte
$59.99Piedmont Italy
Vinous 95 Rating
The 2016 Barolo Le Coste di Monforte is gorgeous. Dried herbs, crushed flowers, mint, licorice, cedar and sweet pipe tobacco give the 2016 striking aromatic nuance to match its mid-weight personality. There is a sense of translucence in the 2016 that is just compelling. Deceptive in its mid-weight structure, the 2016 has a ton of richness that emerges over time. The Le Coste spent 25 months in 40HL cask. I loved it. R2-2 -

Pine Ridge 2023 Chenin Blanc-Viognier
$12.99 – $120.00California
Crisp, bright, and vivacious, CB+V is an aromatic white blend boasting a bouquet of honeysuckle and orange blossoms along with tropical fruit aromas of lychee and pineapple complemented by green apple, lemon, and grapefruit. The entry is bright and fresh, exhibiting flavors of fresh ginger, ruby grapefruit, lemon curd, and Granny Smith apples. While this is a fresh, juicy wine, it has an incredible midpalate weight with zesty acidity carrying the flavors through to the lengthy finish.

A bright red color, the 2019 Brunello Di Montalcino is floral and aromatic of preserved strawberries, baby powder, and herbes de Provence. Medium-bodied, it has refined ripe tannins, even acidity, and a clean, stony textured finish. A lovely and charming wine, it’s drinking well now and will drink well over the coming 8-10 years. Poggio Antico 2021 Madre Toscana
$49.99 – $240.00Tuscany Italy
The nose is delicious if more focused on Tuscan red cherries, strawberries and elderberries with a hint of sweet plums. The palate is fresh but with a good core of density. Some pretty tannins and a fruit-forward finish. Madre can already be enjoyed, but may also be aged for a long time, further improving its characteristics.
