Tasted next to the Cemetery, the Regusci is a bit more overt and opulent in style, with ripeness pushed to the max. The 2018 turns up the dial on everything; fruit intensity, acid and tannin. It is a decidedly flamboyant Cabernet from this historic Stags Leap property.

Complex notes of roasted meat, cassis, quince, macerated blackberry, and nutmeg are intricately layered, framed by a complimentary acidity.     The tiny production 2015 Syrah Soberanes Vineyard is a sensational Syrah that has complexity, elegance and richness. Upfront and perfumed aromatically, yet with serious intensity in its violets, flowers, blueberries, toasty oak and spice, it has an elegant, seamless style on the palate that’s already hard to resist. Reminding me of a silky Côte Rôtie from the southern end of the appellation, it needs 2-3 years of bottle age and will keep for a decade. WBC
