The 2019 Pinot Noir Sanford and Benedict Vineyard The Twelve Row is magnificent. Rich and textured on the palate, with tremendous depth, the 2019 exudes class. Inky dark fruit, lavender, spice and tobacco are wonderfully vivid. The 2019 is endowed with so much complexity and sheer pedigree. What a wine! R17-1

  • Domaine Aurelien Verdet 2019 Hautes Cotes de Nuits Le Prieure

    Côte-de-Nuits Burgundy France

Bursting from the glass with notes of sweet berries, petals, peonies and raw cocoa, the 2019 Bourgogne Hautes-Côtes de Nuits Le Prieuré is medium to full-bodied, velvety and charming, with lively acids, melting tannins and a succulent, spice-inflected finish. Deeper than the 2017 and more elegant than the 2018, this gets my nod as the finest Le Prieuré of the three. SP1-1

  • Domaine Bernard & Thierry Glantenay 2015 Volnay Les Santenots 1er Cru

    $99.99

    Burgundy France
    Vinous 93 Rating
The 2015 Volnay 1er Cru shows a lot of reduction on the nose that makes the fruit and terroir difficult to read at the moment. The palate probably indicates the potential more than the aromatics, offering brambly red and black fruit, a sprinkle of white pepper and hints of dried orange peel toward the refined, persistent finish. This certainly requires time in bottle but the potential is here. Patience, please. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting. SP1-3

The 2020 Domaine Bouchard Père et Fils Gevrey-Chambertin is a captivating red wine that exudes the essence of its prestigious terroir. Upon first encounter, the nose is greeted by a harmonious blend of red and dark fruits, with ripe cherries and blackberries taking the lead, intertwined with subtle hints of dried herbs and a delicate floral undertone. As the wine graces the palate, its velvety texture envelops the senses, offering a symphony of flavors that mirror the aromas. The fruit character deepens and expands, revealing layers of raspberry, plum, and a touch of cranberry, all underscored by a subtle thread of earthiness that speaks to the wine's origins. The well-integrated tannins provide an elegant structure that supports the wine's profile without overpowering it, leading to a graceful and enduring finish. A judicious touch of oak adds a gentle layer of complexity, infusing hints of spice and vanilla that harmonize seamlessly with the fruit. The 2020 Domaine Bouchard Père et Fils Gevrey-Chambertin captures the essence of the vintage and the terroir, embodying the perfect balance between fruit expression, elegance, and depth. Whether savored on its own or paired with a range of culinary delights, this Gevrey-Chambertin is a true testament to Burgundy's winemaking heritage and will undoubtedly evolve beautifully with time. The 2019 Châteauneuf Du Pape from Laurent is the usual blend of 82% Grenache and the rest nearly equal parts Syrah, Mourvèdre, Vaccarèse, and Counoise that was brought up all in concrete tank. It shows the sunny, spicy, Provençal style of the vintage beautifully while still having incredible freshness in its red and black fruits as well as garrigue, ground pepper, spring flowers, and incense aromas and flavors. Gorgeous on the palate as well, this medium to full-bodied Châteauneuf du Pape is balanced and has terrific tannins, no hard edges, and a great finish. Rhône lovers need to have this beauty in their cellar, and it's going to offer pleasure for a solid two decades. R21-2

The first nose reveals scents of citrus, including grapefruit. The aromas then evolve into notes of lemon and fresh apricot. The palate is elegant, bright and luscious, accompanied by hints of citrus and fresh apricot, followed by a saline, mineral finish

  • Domaine de Chevalier 2010 Bordeaux Blend

    $119.99

    Pessac Leognan Bordeaux
    Jeb Dunnuck 95 Rating
The 2010 Domaine de Chevalier is still a baby, yet with air, offers tons of pleasure. Black currants, truffle, scorched earth, and licorice aromas and flavors all give way to a big, concentrated, unctuous beauty that has ample sweetness to its tannin, a stacked mid-palate, and a blockbuster finish. A blend of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot and the rest Petit Verdot, it needs an hour in a decanter if drinking anytime soon, and certainly has another two decades of longevity in front of it. It’s a sensational bottle of wine. R12-1

  • Domaine de Ferrand 2017 Chateauneuf du Pape

    $69.99

    Southern Rhone Valley France
    Jeb Dunnuck 95 Rating
The 2017 Châteauneuf Du Pape checks in as 90% Grenache and the rest 3% each of Mourvèdre, Syrah and Bourboulenc, with a splash of Cinsault, brought up all in tank. It has a deep, layered, powerful yet elegant style as well as notes of black raspberries, crushed violets, blueberries, ground pepper, and earth. With a rounded, sexy texture, no hard edges, fine tannins, and a beautiful finish, it's a fabulous wine in the vintage. SP35-3
