Domaine Lucien Boillot & Fils 2020 Gevrey-Chambertin
$79.99 – $420.00Cote de Nuits Burgundy France
Today the 7ha farm is composed of vines inherited in Côte de Beaune (2.80 ha) and vines bought in Côte de Nuits (4.30 ha) on 16 different appellations: Gevrey-Chambertin, Nuits-Saint-Georges, Pommard, Volnay, Puligny-Montrachet… All vines are owned. Pinot Noir represents nearly 95% of the grapes produced, supplemented by Chardonnay and Pinot Gris.
The average age of the vines is important (nearly 55 years) which explains the complexity of all the vintages. The estate works in reasoned struggle with certain methods inspired by organic farming. The harvest is carried out manually and all the grapes are usually 100% destemmed. The fermentations are gentle, derived from indigenous yeasts by limiting extraction. Aging is carried out in oak barrels at about 30% new barrels for 16 to 18 months depending on the year. The result? Authentic, precise wines, both elegant and in a delicate style.

Domaine Lucien Boillot 2019 Gevrey Chambertin 1er Cru Les Corbeaux
$119.99Cote de Nuits Burgundy France
Jasper Morris 92 Rating
Mid purple with a sterner bouquet. The Corbeaux displays a delicious sweetness of fruit on the palate before a firmer structure behind medium to long finish. Not immediately seductive but with plenty of promise for the longer term especially as the wine stays fresh at the back. SP3-1 -

Enjoyabilityfactor 94 Rating
Les Seuvrées delivers classic Gevrey-Chambertin flavors of black fruit, licorice, violets, and spices with an underlying earthiness. Fifty-year-old vines bring unexpected richness and depth to this village-level bottling. The wine is a pure expression of its terroir thanks to its élevage in a combination of used oak and clay jars.

The 2022 Domaine Michel Magnien Morey-Saint-Denis is a beautifully structured red Burgundy with aromas of dark cherries, blackberries, and forest floor, complemented by hints of spice and violet. Domaine Paul Autard 2017 Chateauneuf-du-Pape La Cote Ronde
$59.99Southern Rhone Valley France
Wine Spectator 94 Rating
Dark and winey, featuring lots of currant, fig and blackberry compote notes stuffed together, with hints of ganache, tobacco and roasted alder filling in around them. A warm earth accent runs through the finish, which exhibits grip and drive. Rock-solid. Best from 2022 through 2037. 750 cases made, 200 cases imported. R45-4 -
Domaine Pierre Labet 2017 Beaune Clos du dessus des Marconnets Rouge
$89.99Burgundy France
Wine Spectator 93 Rating
Leafy underbrush, sandalwood and incense aromas and flavors augment the cherry and plum fruit in this rich, robust red. A finely-meshed matrix of tannins lays the groundwork, while the finish is long and complex, echoing spice and woodsy elements. Best from 2023 through 2038. SP3-5 -
Domaine Rapet Père et Fils 2017 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru
$249.99Burgundy France
Wine Advocate 95 Rating
With the 2017 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru, Rapet has produced his finest white since 2014. The wine opens in the glass with a classy nose of ripe lemons, green apple, white flowers and crushed chalk, framed by subtle hints of oatmeal and beeswax. On the palate, it's full-bodied, deep and layered, with excellent concentration and broad shoulders, but also promising structural tension and reserve. The long, chalky finish is penetrating and intense. This is well worth seeking out. R22-3 -
Domaine Raymond Usseglio & Fils 2019 Chateauneuf Du Pape Les Apotres
$119.99Southern Rhone Valley France
Jeb Dunnuck 97 Rating
A relatively new cuvée that encompasses all the permitted varieties of the appellation and is brought up in amphora, the 2019 Châteauneuf Du Pape Les Apotres offers a beautiful perfume of black raspberry and blackberry fruits interwoven with loads of spring flowers, white truffle, spice, and sappy garrigue aromas and flavors. This beauty is seamless, medium to full-bodied, and my money is on it being the finest vintage for this cuvée to date. BX-6 -

The stunning 2021 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee Imperiale comes from old vines in two sandy parcels—one in Pied Long and one in la Crau. Exotic aromas of orange zest, Campari-like spice and exquisitely ripe cherries appear on the nose, while the full-bodied palate is silky and creamy in texture yet airy and vibrant, with a long, zesty finish. It’s a definite candidate for wine of the vintage, alongside its Mourvèdre-based stablemate, La Part des Anges. Drink: 2025-2040. SP33-6
