  • I Greppi 2020 Greppicaia Bolgheri Superiore

    $69.99$360.00

    Tuscany Italy
    Wine Spectator 95 Rating
The Greppicaia Bolgheri Superiore is a blend of barrique-aged Cabernet Sauvignon (60%), Cabernet Franc (20%) and Merlot (20%). Full of plum, blackberry and black currant flavors, this succulent red is balanced and supple in texture. Leather, earth and tobacco flavors add depth as this stays long and bright on the finish. This is as much about the vivid acidity as tannins for structure. Best from 2025 through 2040.

The 2021 Greppicaia includes a hefty dose of Petit Verdot, which lends richness and spice to the mix. Bold aromas of fresh red berries and some dried cherry introduce an intense and concentrated palate where the wood is currently in the front seat and the tannins have an overt, powdery texture. Creamy and peppery, there is nevertheless some succulent fruit lurking in the background and with time will emerge – the potential is certainly there in its long, fresh character and poised posture. Owned by Irish geologist, Dr Neil McMahon and his family since 2017, I Greppi has benefitted from his scientific approach, which includes a joint long-term research project with University of California, UC Davis, who also helped with the development of an on-site ’eno lab’…” 09/24 R23-1

    $19.99$102.00

    Piedmont Italy
This classic Moscato d’Asti makes for an excellence aperitif or dessert wine. Lightly sparkling, it is a pretty pale yellow in color, intensely fruity, aromatic and lingering. The sweetness is in balance with the low alcohol (5%) and acidity that gives this wine a pleasant freshness. It is vinified exclusively in steel tanks. While this makes for an exquisite cocktail, it also pairs really well with roasted hazelnuts or fruit tarts.

  • il Poggione 2015 Brunello di Montalcino

    $79.99

    Tuscany Italy
    Wine Advocate 97 Rating
The Il Poggione 2015 Brunello di Montalcino shows a darker and more concentrated appearance than many of its peers. The wine is beautifully abundant and fragrant in the most exuberant and expressive manner. You will recognize aromas of moist soil, tobacco and smoke. Candied cherry hovers over the entire bouquet. Fruit is sourced from older vines (all over 25 years old). Il Poggione occupies a special spot within the Montalcino appellation, and the area always produces slightly more concentrated and powerful wines. I find that to be particularly true in this gorgeous 2015 vintage. I am also very attracted to that almost dusty note of crushed mineral that rides long on the full-bodied finish. Il Poggione's Brunello is also distinguished by firm, youthful tannin that need a few more years to unwind. Luckily, there are quite a few bottles to go around, with some 200,000 made. R43-4

    Sonoma County California

All from estate fruit, the 2014 Impassible Mountain is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon that spent 27 months in 75% new French oak. It reveals a deeper ruby/purple color as well as a beautiful perfume of blackcurrants, mulled spice, graphite, crushed rock, and earth. Incredibly deep, full-bodied, and opulent, yet always with a sense of purity, minerality, and length, it's a monumental wine that builds on the palate, has ultra-fine tannins, no hard edges, and an awesome finish. A smaller selection and also all Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2016 Impassible Mountain (28 months in 85% new French oak) offers more of everything and is a magical, blockbuster, yet ethereal styled Cabernet Sauvignon from Sonoma. With a kaleidoscopic array of crème de cassis, sagebrush, tobacco, cedar pencil, and awesome minerality, it has incredible concentration, full-bodied richness, and a skyscraper-like mouthfeel, yet it also stays weightless, elegant, and flawlessly balanced. There are few estates coming close to this level of quality in Sonoma with Cabernet Sauvignon, and if you want to taste pure perfection from Sonoma, try this wine! It’s still a baby, and I suspect it will need 8-10 years to hit maturity, but it's going to evolve for 30-40 years. R16-3

    $32.99$174.00

    Veneto Italy

Foscarino as a modern-day muse. An inspiring wine that can lead to greater ideas. This profound wine opens with aromas of quince, roasted Fuji, preserved kumquats and an entire meadow full of flowers that encompasses all senses. Rich on the palate, yet stately the wine threads the needle as flavors of orange flower water, white peach, mint and honey flow into a sea of crushed shells and green almonds giving a salty, savory finish that languishes.
