Chateau Ducru-Beaucaillou Croix de Beaucaillou 2020 Bordeaux Blend
$63.99St-Julien Bordeaux, France
Jeb Dunnuck 93 Rating
The second wine of Château Ducru-Beaucaillou matches many châteaux’s Grand Vins. Their 2020 La Croix Ducru-Beaucaillou (52% Cabernet Sauvignon, 44% Merlot, and the rest Petit Verdot) reveals a dense purple hue as well as full-bodied array of cassis, graphite, liquid violets, and tobacco. It has tons of minerality, a stacked mid-palate, and ripe tannins. Give bottles 2-4 years in the cellar and enjoy over the following two decades. SPBX-6 -
Venge Vineyards 2021 Silencieux Cabernet Sauvignon
$64.99 – $330.00Napa Valley California
The highest quality crop not witnessed in years. I know, I put a lot of eggs in the basket of vintage 2018. However, friends, brace yourself for some delicious, superior quality wines coming from 2021. Across the board—from Chardonnay through to Cabernet Sauvignon— we are looking at magnificent concentrations of color and flavor that forecast a stellar vintage to come.
There is something magical that happens to a vineyard when water is scarce. Cluster sets are reduced naturally, grape size shrinks the skin-to-pulp ratio, and energy is driven to protect the crop that is left. We manually thin in all vintages to balance the ratios on the vine; however, it is Mother Nature’s culling that always works wonders for producing wines of profound resilience. The only downside in this natural selection scenario is crop yield. Vintage 2021 will see significant reductions in yield from 30% to 50% less than normal years. R5-3

Tenuta Ornellaia 2020 Le Serre Nuove Bolgheri Rosso
$64.99 – $342.00Tuscany Italy
Wine Advocate 93 Rating
The Ornellaia 2020 Bolgheri Rosso Le Serre Nuove dell'Ornellaia (a proprietary blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot) is a generous and darkly toned red blend that has the extra fruit fiber, sweetness and generous plumpness of a warm vintage. The fullness of the fruit is on full display, but in a very relaxed and natural manner. The wine never feels like too much. The tannins are yielding and velvety, and this purebred Tuscan red wraps thickly over the palate. It's poised for near- and medium-term drinking.

Delas 2021 Hermitage Domaine des Tourettes
$64.99 – $342.00Northern Rhone Valley France
Jeb Dunnuck 94 Rating
Lastly, the 2021 Hermitage Domaine Des Tourettes is a clear standout in the lineup and is going to be a rock-solid Hermitage. Darker raspberries, cassis, classy oak, saddle leather, and some meaty notes all define this beauty, and it’s medium-bodied on the palate, with a balanced, elegant profile. It shows the fresher style of the vintage, yet the tannins are ripe and present, the balance is spot on, and it has good intensity as well. It’s going to be approachable in its youth but, I suspect, also evolve gracefully.

The 2022 Napa Valley Chardonnay exudes fresh character with lemon curd, gardenia, and Gala apple, plus something that reminds us of Madeleine cookies. Lively and lifted on entry with wonderful silky texture, the palate carries impressive drive through a long, lustrous finish.

Aalto 2021 Red Ribera del Duero
$64.99 – $720.00Ribera del Duero Spain
Decanter 95 Rating
Aalto was established in 1999 by Mariano Garcia, winemaker for 30 years at Vega Sicilia. His philosophy was minimal intervention and maximum expression of the vineyard. For this wine, grapes are harvested from vines up to 80 years old, all organically farmed, from nine villages, low yields giving intensity and concentration. Seventeen months in French and American oak ensure a wine for the long haul. Beth Willard: Seductively fruity nose with flinty, stony character, even a touch of blood orange. Deep and concentrated with a lot of oak and acidity, but in balance. David Williams: Prominent oak, but high quality and integrated with the high-toned, ripe fruit. Savoury and engaging with satisfying richness and texture, with a long finish. Diana Rollan: Elegant and balanced with red berry notes of cranberry and raspberry, a touch of vanilla and dark chocolate. An appealing, polished style that keeps on giving: superb.

Poggio Antico 2018 Brunello di Montalcino
$64.99 – $342.00Tuscany Italy
Wine Advocate 94 Rating

The 2018 Brunello di Montalcino shows a pretty, mid-weight appearance with shiny dark ruby highlights. The wine offers soft fruit with cherry and wild forest berry at the front. On a second wave, it delivers light spice, earthy mineral and cured tobacco. Both the fruity and the savory sides of the wine are well balanced over solid tannic support and balanced freshness.
