PerUs 2016 Alessio
$289.99Napa Valley California
Enjoyabilityfactor 97 Rating
This flamboyant Bordeaux style blend is a combination of 50% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Franc, and 25% Cabernet Sauvignon once again displays Russell Bervan's genius in blending. A nod to the original vintage of PerUs, this wine reveals the continued love affair between Sugar Loaf Mountain's Bordeaux varietals and Tench Vineyard's Cabernet Sauvignon. Combining these two epic vineyard sites once again display that sometimes the sum is truly greater than its parts. SP22-2 -
Continuum 2018 Proprietary Red
$289.99Napa Valley California
Wine Advocate 100 Rating
Composed of 54% Cabernet Sauvignon, 31% Cabernet Franc, 9% Petit Verdot and 6% Merlot, the deep garnet-purple 2018 Proprietary Red has a fantastically fragrant nose of candied violets, red roses, Morello cherries and blackcurrant pastilles with hints of wild blueberries, red currant jelly, iron ore and forest floor, plus a waft of cinnamon stick. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is completely packed with tightly wound black and red berry layers, framed by firm, ripe, finely grained tannins and seamless freshness, finishing with incredibly persistent and evocative floral and mineral layers. An absolute head-turner, this 2018 is all that and then some. Tim Mondavi mentioned that this is due to be bottled in just a few weeks—mid-August—meaning this barrel sample I tasted is pretty close to being a finished wine. With the estate vineyard turning 10 year's old in 2018, here's where we see how incredibly special this singular Pritchard Hill site really is. SP11-1 -

Chateau Ducru-Beaucaillou 2018 Saint-Julien
$299.99Bordeaux France
Wine Enthusiast 100 Rating
Vintage 2018 was generous to the style of Ducru-Beaucaillou. The rich character of wines from this estate is enhanced by the ripeness and concentration of this wine. At the same time it keeps an amazing freshness that comes out of the acidity. This wine will go down in the annals of this historic estate. It is not likely to approach drinkability before 2028. Lail Vineyards 2019 J. Daniel Cuvee Cabernet Sauvignon
$299.99Napa Valley California
Wine Advocate 98-100 Rating
The 2019 J. Daniel Cuvée Cabernet Sauvignon is a barrel sample with a deep garnet-purple color. It needs a little coaxing to unlock pronounced blackcurrant preserves, Black Forest cake and stewed plums scents with hints of star anise, clove oil, unsmoked cigars and tilled soil with a waft of roses. Full-bodied, the palate explodes with vibrant black fruits, framed by wonderfully plush tannins and seamless freshness, finishing long and fragrant. Beautiful! BX-12 -
Immortal Estate 2014 Impassible Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon
$299.99Sonoma County California
Jeb Dunnuck 99 Rating
All from estate fruit, the 2014 Impassible Mountain is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon that spent 27 months in 75% new French oak. It reveals a deeper ruby/purple color as well as a beautiful perfume of blackcurrants, mulled spice, graphite, crushed rock, and earth. Incredibly deep, full-bodied, and opulent, yet always with a sense of purity, minerality, and length, it's a monumental wine that builds on the palate, has ultra-fine tannins, no hard edges, and an awesome finish. Shafer Vineyards 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Hillside Select
$299.99Napa Valley California
Wine Advocate 98 Rating
I was able to taste four vintages of the estate’s flagship Cabernet Sauvignon, their Hillside Select. This first growth-like cuvée was first made in 1978 and always comes from their estate Hillside Vineyard just above their estate in Stags Leap. This is a 54-acre south-facing, amphitheater-like vineyard of thin, rocky, volcanic soils. Today the cuvée is always 100% Cabernet Sauvignon that spends upwards of 32 months in new French oak. It is consistently one of the greatest Cabernet Sauvignons in the world. Starting with their 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Hillside Select, it boasts a deep, saturated purple hue as well as a heavenly bouquet of sweet blueberry and cassis fruits interwoven with plenty of graphite, tobacco, and lead pencil notes, with ample minerality emerging with time in the glass. This was a hot, low-yielding vintage for Napa, and while this beauty is massively concentrated, it’s also silky and seamless, with great tannins, no sense of over-ripeness or heaviness, and a finish that goes on for nearly a minute. This is a brilliant, incredibly sexy wine to enjoy over the coming 30-40 years. R27-4
