  • Domaine Lucien Boillot & Fils 2020 Gevrey-Chambertin

    $79.99$420.00

    Cote de Nuits Burgundy France
Today the 7ha farm is composed of vines inherited in Côte de Beaune (2.80 ha) and vines bought in Côte de Nuits (4.30 ha) on 16 different appellations: Gevrey-Chambertin, Nuits-Saint-Georges, Pommard, Volnay, Puligny-Montrachet… All vines are owned. Pinot Noir represents nearly 95% of the grapes produced, supplemented by Chardonnay and Pinot Gris.
The average age of the vines is important (nearly 55 years) which explains the complexity of all the vintages. The estate works in reasoned struggle with certain methods inspired by organic farming. The harvest is carried out manually and all the grapes are usually 100% destemmed. The fermentations are gentle, derived from indigenous yeasts by limiting extraction. Aging is carried out in oak barrels at about 30% new barrels for 16 to 18 months depending on the year. The result? Authentic, precise wines, both elegant and in a delicate style.

The 2017 Pommard is a charmer, revealing a medium ruby hue as well as plenty of sweet red currant fruits, forest floor, spice, and sappy herb aromatics. It shows the sunny, sexy style of the vintage, has beautiful fruit, a light, elegant, balanced texture, and outstanding length. It blossoms with an hour of air and is ideal for drinking over the coming 10-15 years. SP2-10 R30-1

    Cote de Nuits Burgundy France
A love letter to the purpled fruit and silky tannins of Chambolle. A selection of older-vine fruit from villages-level plots in Chambolle-Musigny: ‘Les Babillères,’ ‘Les Condemennes’ (which borders premier cru ‘Charmes’) and ‘Les Danguerrins,’ high up at the forest line. Vines 50+ years old.

Another lovely cuvée is the 2019 Gevrey-Chambertin Village, an assemblage of eight different old-vine parcels dotted all over the commune. Offering up aromas of raspberries, cassis, orange rind and rose petals, it's medium to full-bodied, deep and layered, with fine concentration, lively acids and a seamless, elegant profile.

  • Domaine Gachot 2019 Nuits-Saint-Georges Aux Herbues

    $64.99$348.00

    Côte-de-Nuits Burgundy France
The pretty nose smells fabulously of Pinot Noir. The palate has good, juicy flesh to it, and the tannin/acid balance, well even in Burgundy you rarely find such an elegant balance. As red Burgundy or Pinot Noir, I think you will agree that this is an incredible value. R24-1 SP1-2

    James Suckling 98 Rating
Impressive aromas of fresh herbs from the Tuscan coast, such as sage, mint, rosemary and thyme. Blackcurrants, too. Full-bodied with fine, chewy tannins that show beautiful length and consistency. Racy and beautiful, with lots of subtle and refined character. Slightly more cabernet sauvignon this year, which adds class to the wine. 80% cabernet sauvignon, 10% merlot and 10% petit verdot. Give this about three or four years of bottle age. Try after 2027. So much ripe damson-plum and blackberry fruit, but also notes of licorice, candied ginger and baking spices. In spite of all the considerable power and concentration, this is anything but loud or domineering, rather it tastes very poised and precise. Very long finish with pronounced stony character. From organically grown grapes. Drink or hold. SP38-4

Love the sweet berries, black olives, tile and fresh herbs on the nose with floral undertones. Oyster shell, too. Full-bodied with round, creamy tannins that are beautifully polished and refined. Very long finish. All about finesse and wonderful length. 68% cabernet sauvignon, 19% cabernet franc, 10% merlot and 3% petit verdot. Drink after 2023. BX-6

The 2022 Rosé Château de Selle Cru Classé opens with a striking bouquet, blending dusty dried flowers with ginger, a spritz of lemon and crushed apples. It’s supple and soothing to the senses, with a textural wave of white strawberry, candied orange and sweet inner florals. A core of brilliant acidity maintains a fantastic balance as this tapers off long and potent. A mineral staining and citrus hints tease the taste buds. Please pour me another.
