Facets by Gemstone 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon
Price range: $69.99 through $360.00Napa Valley
Decanter Magazine 95 Rating
Facets is Gemstone’s non-estate wine, crafted from carefully selected vineyards in Yountville and Oak Knoll by winemaker Julien Fayard, who took the helm in 2021. The 2022 Facets is a crowd-pleaser with upfront appeal, offering heady aromas of violets, rose petals, sweet candied red berry fruit, and dusty minerals. The velvety, fine-grained tannins are seamlessly integrated on the palate, giving the wine a polished texture. Full-bodied and rich, it features expressive, balanced cedarwood sweetness and finishes with notes of crushed cacao nibs. Grapes are gently pressed directly into barrels for fermentation and aged up to 18 months in 40% new French oak. The 2022 vintage is approachable now and perfect for drinking, while the more structured 2021s continue to develop, delivering a harmonious balance of richness, elegance, and immediate gratification. Faethm 2019 Fingers Crossed Bien Nacido Vineyard Syrah
$399.99Santa Maria Valley California

The 2019 Syrah TBD is also magical stuff. Mostly destemmed (there are 25% stems) and aging in 70% new French oak (mostly from Bien Nacido), its deep purple color is followed by incredibly pure crème de cassis and blackberry fruits that give way to more peppery, meaty, spicy notes with time in the glass. Full-bodied, concentrated, yet also flawlessly balanced, it has plenty of tannins and a great finish. My instincts say 2-4 years of bottle age are going to beneficial, but this is brilliant. SP18-1 -
Faethm 2019 Grenache Fingers Crossed
$299.99California
Jeb Dunnuck 96-99 Rating
I was able to taste both the 2019 Grenache and Syrah from barrel, both showing beautifully. The 2019 Grenache TBD is slightly more fruit-forward with lots of red and blue fruits as well as sappy flower and violet notes. A finesse-driven Grenache that still brings serious richness and power, it's full-bodied and has silky tannins, terrific balance, and a sensational sense of freshness. R1-2 SP18-1 -
Failla 2023 Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast

Wine Spectator 93 Rating
This is suave, with a mulled edge to its raspberry, damson plum and blood orange notes, which sparkle with savory and rose hip details. Finishes with light-handed echoes of sandalwood and sous-bois. Drink now through 2030.

Familiar Air 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley
Price range: $89.99 through $450.00California
Jeb Dunnuck 95 Rating
I loved the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon, a blend of 88% Cabernet Sauvignon and 12% Malbec. There are a scant 200 cases made, but it's a brilliant wine loaded with dark, chocolaty fruit as well as hints of flowers and earthy minerality. Medium to full-bodied, ripe, textured, yet always balanced and fresh, I'd be thrilled to drink a bottle any time over the coming 15+ years. BX-6

Far Mountain 2020 Fission Cabernet Sauvignon
$59.99Moon Mountain District Sonoma
Enjoyabilityfactor 94 Rating
The wine is dark, fresh and young. Enters with density and freshness together with a long mid palate. Earthy notes are present together with spices and dry herbs combined with the black fruit. Graphite gives way to bright, red fruit on a textural palate marked by mountain minerality. Balance and bright flavors, tannins are present yet in a subtle and soft way. Its defined structure along with fine-grained tannins that are present, yet soft, result in a complex finish that will allow the wine to age gracefully. -

Far Niente 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley

The Tasting Panel 97 Rating
Made with grapes sourced from Rutherford, Calistoga, St. Helena, and the winery’s home in Oakville that aged 17 months in French oak, this impeccably balanced and complex red is as elegant as it is emotive. Blackberry and clove-spiced cedar line the mouth, erupting with graphite and espresso. Finely grained tannins adhere to dusty plum and lavender. Most stores $119.99

Far Niente 2023 Chardonnay
Price range: $49.99 through $540.00Napa Valley California
James Suckling 93 Rating
This has a good core of fruit with an underlying power that will unravel with time in the bottle. Aromas of lemon confit, oak spices, vanilla and pastry. The rounded, phenolic palate is cut with a bright line of acidity, leading to a generous, concentrated finish. Drink or hold.
