Hartford Family Winery 2023 Old Vines Zinfandel
Price range: $49.99 through $210.00Russian River Valley California
Jeb Dunnuck 95 Rating
Pouring a dark magenta/purple color, the 2023 Zinfandel Russian River Valley is deeper, offering notes of black cherry cordial, dark chocolate, lavender oils, wet stones, and dark sappy earth. The palate is full-bodied, with a broad-shouldered tannic structure that has an even feel, while refreshing acidity holds this wine together. It’s well-structured and has the ability to age over the coming 10 years. R10-6

Harvey & Harriet 2021 Red Blend
Price range: $20.99 through $240.00San Luis Obispo County California
Jeb Dunnuck 93 Rating
The 2021 Red Blend comes all from purchased fruit (mostly from Paso Robles) and it’s a smoking good blend based on Bordeaux varieties that tastes like it costs three times the price. Cassis, graphite, violets, and classy oak define the aromatics, and it’s beautifully balanced, medium to full-bodied, has a ripe, layered mouthfeel, and a great finish. Don’t miss this crazy value in Bordeaux blends from California!

Haynes Vineyard 2021 ‘Forgeron’ Syrah Coombsville
Price range: $149.99 through $750.00Napa Valley California
Antonio Galloni 96 Rating
The 2021 Syrah Forgeron emerges from a block planted in 2000. Rich, deep and layered in the glass, the 2021 is so inviting. Here, too, the stems (100%) are impeccably balanced within the wine’s frame. Readers will find a potent yet delicate Syrah with a good deal of floral and spice notes, but less in the way of savory/peppery impressions.

Heitz 2018 ‘Lot C-91’ Cabernet Sauvignon
Price range: $99.99 through $960.00Napa Valley California
Wine Spectator 93 Rating
Expressive, with a bold menthol note followed quickly by boysenberry and blackberry compote flavors wrapped in black licorice. The long finish has a tug of earth amid a generally velvety feel, while the menthol note curls around the fruit. Distinctive.

Heitz 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Martha’s Vineyard
Price range: $279.99 through $1,560.00Napa Valley California
Wine Spectator 96 Rating
This red brims with dark currant, cherry and loganberry fruit, but you have to work through a lush swath of menthol to get there, all while notes of sweet tobacco and a hint of loam run underneath. Fine-grained, with a lingering twang of iron, this has all it requires for a lengthy cellar run, yet needs to meld a bit more.

Herman Story Wines 2020 Bolt Cutter
$69.99Paso Robles California
Antonio Galloni 94 Rating
As usual with Herman Story wines, there's nothing shy about this blockbuster blend of 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 37% Petit Verdot, 20% Syrah and 3% Malbec from several vineyards across the Central Coast, with 24 months in 84% new French oak. The 93-94 point raves will emerge as folks get to taste this, with big, plush, mouthfeel nicely balanced by the wine's density and chewy, charmingly rustic, finish. A big wine for big meat over the next decade or so. BX-8 -

Herman Story Wines 2020 Casual Encounters
Price range: $69.99 through $330.00Paso Robles California
Inkier colored, the Casual encounters is a blend of 58% Mourvèdre, 34% Syrah, and 8% Grenache. Lots of mulled black fruits, smoked meat, barbecue, and peppery notes emerge from the glass. It’s full-bodied, super-rich, and concentrated, yet still stays light on its feet and beautifully balanced. It’s a classic, sweetly fruited, sexy wine to enjoy over the coming 5-7 years or so. R2-1
