So elegant, supple and silky, this vintage is a dream to drink now, but should also have plenty of life ahead of it. Aromas of blueberries and dark chocolate meld with luxe black fruit, mint and cocoa on the palate. A blend of 77% cabernet sauvignon, 18% merlot and dashes of cabernet franc and petit verdot. Drink or hold through at least 2030. R21-6 -
Sine Qua Non 2015 Grenache E
$499.99Eleven Confessions Vineyard California
Wine Advocate 100 Rating
This is a single-vineyard Grenache-dominated, barrel-selection blend coming from the Eleven Confessions Estate vineyard in Sta. Rita Hills. It bears Elaine Krankl’s initial and a portrait Manfred made of Elaine on the label. The blend is 82% Grenache, 12% Syrah, 5% Petite Syrah and 1% Viognier, and 56% was fermented using whole clusters. It was aged for around 38 months in French oak, 28% new. R18-1 SP19-1 -
Sine Qua Non 2017 Tectumque
$249.99California
Wine Advocate 97 Rating
Tectumque means “shelter” in Latin. This wine was initially going to be called “Inconnue” (“unknown” in French), but that name had already been trademarked. “Naming wines is becoming impossible,” mentioned Manfred. “Everything has already been taken. Even, 'No Name!'” This is a blend of 38% Roussanne, 31% Petit Manseng, 18% Chardonnay, 9% Viognier and 4% Muscat. The vineyard components are 52% Cumulus Estate, 19% Eleven Confessions Estate, 18% Bien Nacido Vineyard and 11% The Third Twin Estate. It spent around 20 months aging in 9% concrete eggs, 4% amphora, 9% used barrels and 78% new French oak puncheons. R5-1 -
Sine Qua Non 2020 Distenta Grenache II
$349.99California
Jeb Dunnuck 100 Rating
The 2020 Grenache Distenta II is a blend of mostly 78% Grenache and the rest Mourvèdre, Syrah, Petite Sirah, and a tiny splash of Viognier. It's a ripe, sexy, insanely good barrel sample that has remarkable purity, tons of black raspberry and cassis fruits, perfect balance, full-bodied richness, and an already complex bouquet of violets, spice, and flowers. I continue to be blown away by what this estate seems to achieve with Grenache in just about every vintage. R6-1 SP19-2 -
Sine Qua Non 2020 Distenta Syrah

Jeb Dunnuck 97-99 Rating
Tons of red, blue, and black fruits as well as peppery herbs and liquid violet-like nuances emerge from the 2020 Syrah Distenta II, a full-bodied, concentrated, remarkably balanced barrel sample that's based on 83% Syrah, 7.5% Grenache, and the rest Mourvèdre, Petite Sirah, Muscat, and Petit Manseng. I love its mid-palate, it has ripe, sweet tannins, and a gorgeous finish. It's unquestionably a brilliant wine in the making. R9-3 SP19-3 -

Jeb Dunnuck 98 Rating
Moving to the reds from barrels, the 2022 Grenache Distenta IV is another ripe, opulent, sexy wine in the vintage that’s going to check in near the top of the scale. Black raspberries, ground pepper, herbes de Provence, and sandalwood are just some of its nuances, and it’s full-bodied, rich, concentrated, and velvety textured on the palate. It’s a stunner of a wine based on 78% Grenache, 10% Syrah, 7.3% Mourvedre, and the rest Petite Sirah and white varieties. R42-3

Sine Qua Non 2022 Syrah Distenta IV
$299.99Central Coast California
Jeb Dunnuck 98 Rating
Incorporating 6% Grenache, 5% Petite Sirah, 3% Mourvèdre, and 3% white varieties, the 2022 Syrah Distenta IV is another ripe, layered, full-bodied 2022 that’s going to deliver the goods. Ample blue fruits, kirsch liqueur, pepper, and tons of spicy notes all shine here, and this puppy has a layered, velvety mouthfeel, beautiful tannins, no hard edges, and awesome length. It’s going to shine right out of the gate and is a good counterpoint to the more focused, cooler styled 2021s. R38-4

Sinegal Estate 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon
Price range: $69.99 through $660.00Napa Valley California
Jeb Dunnuck 94 Rating
The 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon comes mostly from estate fruit and checks in as 84% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% each of Malbec and Petit Verdot, and the rest Merlot and Cabernet Franc. There are around 10,000 cases, so you should be able to find bottles, and I suspect it’s going to be a great value. Giving up lots of jammy blackberries, tobacco, sweet oak, and subtle cassis, it’s medium to full-bodied, has a round, delicious style, and the balance and structure to evolve for 10-15 years.
