St. Michael Eppan’s Alto Adige Pinot Grigio was born at 400-500 meters above sea level in the vineyards of the municipalities of Appiano and Caldaro. The wine is a pure Pinot Grigio, whose grapes are harvested at the end of September. The must is fermented in steel vats, where it also partially carries out the malolactic fermentation. In the glass it has a straw yellow color with light greenish reflections. The nose opens with hints of both white and yellow pulp fruit. On the palate it is warm and soft. Ideal as an aperitif on its own and as an accompaniment to simple cold land and sea appetizers.

Sporting a special ten-year anniversary label printed on silver paper, the 2013 Bolgheri Superiore Argentiera is a beautiful wine and is certainly the best expression I have yet to taste from Tenuta Argentiera. The results are smooth and silky, and the wine reveals beautiful integration and finesse. The blend is 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc (aged in oak for 18 months). It is bursting with blackberry, dried cherry, spice, tobacco and grilled herb. The mouthfeel is firm and powerful, but never too heavy. The Tenuta Argentiera estate is really coming into its own and is showing steady and encouraging growth, year after year. SP45-1
