Chateau Bernard Magrez 2019 Red Blend
$32.99 – $168.00Saint-Estephe Bordeaux France
Decanter Magazine 94 Rating
33% Cabernet Sauvignon & 67% Merlot from the owners of Chateau Pape Clement. Vinified partly in oak barrel, partly in clay amphora, this is polished and finessed but actually more restrained than perhaps I was expecting. A serious wine, with an emphasis on tightly-knitted cassis fruits. An absolutely beautiful whoosh of juicy menthol comes in from mid palate onwards, and a tight tannic crush on the finish that suggests this is going to age well. It’s big shouldered, as all Magrez wines are, but this is a welcome addition to the St Estèphe landscape.

Chateau Le Marquis de Calon Segur 2018 Red Blend Saint Estephe
$49.99 – $270.00Bordeaux France
Jeb Dunnuck 95 Rating
56% Cabernet sauvignon, 35% Merlot, 7% Cabernet franc & 2% petit Verdot. The second wine of classed growth Calon Ségur, this is becoming impressive in its own right. This vintage shows the structured side of Saint-Estèphe while also showing generous black fruits and bright acidity. It is set to age well.

Bertani 2015 Amarone della Valpolicella Classico DOCG
$149.99Veneto Italy
James Suckling 100 Rating
A vivid ruby color with a garnet tinge and super-restrained nose of licorice, oak bark, smoke, wood, cigar box, leather, dark chocolate, crushed violets and prunes. Freshness and subtlety. Full-bodied and elegant on the palate due to ripe, filigree tannins with long acidity and a toasty, savory aftertaste. One of the great Amarones. Corvina and Rondinella. Ready to drink now but intended for the long haul. SPBX-6 SP39-4 -
