Bertani 2015 Amarone della Valpolicella Classico DOCG
$149.99Veneto Italy
James Suckling 100 Rating
A vivid ruby color with a garnet tinge and super-restrained nose of licorice, oak bark, smoke, wood, cigar box, leather, dark chocolate, crushed violets and prunes. Freshness and subtlety. Full-bodied and elegant on the palate due to ripe, filigree tannins with long acidity and a toasty, savory aftertaste. One of the great Amarones. Corvina and Rondinella. Ready to drink now but intended for the long haul. SP42-6 -

Bodegas Alto Moncayo 2022 Garnacha
Price range: $54.99 through $540.00Campo de Borja Spain
Almost as expected, the Alto Moncayo from Campo de Borja has a powerful nose characterized by dark berries and fine wood spice, which increases in intensity and expressiveness over time and never seems to stop. On the tongue, this impression is immediately transported to the palate, while a balsamic mouthfeel takes it all for itself – a grainy tannin and a fresh acidity are a reminder that time is and remains a commandment. On the one hand, now that you have the wine in the glass, on the other hand, for the remaining bottles, which should disappear into the cellar for the time being. The promise for the future is one of power, opulence and velvetiness held together in a wonderfully elegant and structured way. The red wine gets the full attention; it doesn’t have to demand it at all. The presence is enchanting and seductive. A wine for great hours!

Vincent Gaudry 2024 Sancerre Le Tournebride
Price range: $59.99 through $576.00Loire Valley France
Coming from a relatively late vintage, this Sancerre is immediately distinguished by the sensation of freshness and purity it gives off. Barely opened, it releases subtle menthol notes between lemon balm, minty verbena and peppermint. Cilantro is not far away either, as is green tea. With aeration, it gains in aromatic amplitude, on a more greedy register of peach in syrup, juicy pear. Then come intense citrus aromas, allowing us to perceive a very accurate balance between the ripe fruit and the initial freshness. Menton lemon, grapefruit peel, clementine: the whole is accompanied by deeper, slightly lactic notes, reminiscent of fresh yoghurt or lassi. More iodized and saline shades reminiscent of sea spray and sea breezes now blow above the glass.

Domaine Jean Grivot 2022 Vosne-Romanee
$124.99Cote de Nuits Burgundy France
Decanter Magazine 94 Rating
The attractive medium-deep ruby color announces a pleasantly ripe plummy fruit with nuance of smoke and earth. The texture is supple, and yet there is sufficient tension and grip to draw this out to a lingering finish. It is still ageing in cask (20% new) and will be bottled in March according to the moon’s phase. It is a true ‘cuvée ronde’, a blend of 10 climats from around the village from the top, such as Aux Champs Perdrix, to the base of the slope at Pré de la Folie. SP1-6
