Herman Story Wines 2020 First Time Caller
Price range: $59.99 through $330.00Paso Robles California
Antonio Galloni 94 Rating
Inky black-purple in the glass, the wine is totally opaque, thickly coating the glass. All about massive opulence and pleasure-giving fruit, this bodacious 15.9% ABV Petite Sirah is dark as night in the glass. Layered and substantially more complex than it initially seems, there is real structural definition underneath the hedonism. A line of energy and a framework of fine tannins supports the array of blackberry, black cherry, coffee, dark chocolate, black pepper and smoke notes. Pair with spicy ribs or grilled ribeye, by itself or even a cigar. A seriously cool wine of great impact! R3-2 SP16-6

Harvey & Harriet 2023 Red Blend
Price range: $24.99 through $240.00San Luis Obispo County California
The Tasting Panel 94 Rating
This blend of 62% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Syrah, 9% Petite Sirah, 8% Petit Verdot, 5% Malbec, and 2% each of Grenache and Mourvèdre is a terrific overachiever in relation to its price. Full-bodied but not overbearing, it successfully melds the class of Cabernet with more brambly berry notes from the other varieties. Enduringly interesting but also flat-out delicious.

Giovanni Viberti Barbera d’Alba La Gemella

Expressive floral tones of wild rose, fresh berries, and crushed mineral. The power and intensity of the bouquet is especially attractive and bold. The wine’s dark concentration within layers of blueberry and earth is perfectly balanced by those ethereal aromas.

Jeb Dunnuck 93 Rating
The 2015 Vacqueyras Cuvée Spéciale is another blockbuster. Made from 100% Grenache that was 70% destemmed and aged in oak tanks, it offers terrific notes of kirsch, dried herbs, ground pepper and loads of loamy soil/sandy aromas and flavors. Medium to full-bodied, balanced and with beautiful tannin quality, drink it anytime over the coming decade. SP36-1 -

Caterwaul 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon
$59.99Napa Valley California
This vintage of Caterwaul expresses an impressive array of decadent fruit, exotic spice, and mouth-watering structure. In the glass, the wine exhibits a completely opaque, deep purple hue with a dark violet halo. Aromas swell from the glass in waves of black cherry, plum reduction, aromatic wood, eucalyptus, and pine bough. The palate is marked by a very sleek, polished mouthfeel. Complex notes of roasted meat, cassis, quince, macerated blackberry, and nutmeg are intricately layered, framed by a complimentary acidity. This wine offers a wealth of pure Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon character that is readily accessible today and should age well in the cellar for decades. R31-5
