Conti Costanti 2020 Brunello di Montalcino
Price range: $119.99 through $570.00Tuscany Italy
Decanter Magazine 97 Rating
When I tried Costanti’s 2020 Rosso in 2022, Andrea described the vintage as better suited for Brunello given the high dry extract and sturdy structure. Indeed, his 2020 Brunello is one of the vintage’s anomalies. It possesses rare profundity and decisiveness of tannins. The nose invites with plum blossom, dark currants, mint and an earthy undertow. Upfront tannins are substantial, grainy and crisp, and the sour cherry and cranberry core soars from the depths bringing bitter cocoa, coffee and alpine herbs along for the ride. Juicy acidity rings out and a distinct saltiness permeates the finish. Nevertheless, it is that unwavering backbone that currently commands, promising a long life ahead.

K Vintners 2023 Art Den Hoed Viognier
Price range: $19.99 through $108.00Yakima Valley Washington State
Jeb Dunnuck 94 Rating
With a kiss of reduction in its white peach, honeyed flowers, and subtle tangerine notes, the 2023 Viognier Art Den Hoed hits the palate with medium to full-bodied richness, a round, lush mouthfeel, and a clean, light, graceful, incredibly drinkable style. It’s a beautiful, incredibly classy Viognier that I’d happily put side by side with anything from the Northern Rhône. Drink bottles over the coming couple of years.

Fuligni 2020 Brunello di Montalcino
Price range: $119.99 through $630.00Tuscany Italy
Jeb Dunnuck 97 Rating
A bright red color with orange highlights, the 2020 Brunello Di Montalcino is very pretty, with a delicate rustic hint that I find quite attractive. It reveals attractive red fruit on the nose, with notes of cranberries, wild herbs, and just a subtle hint of saddle leather and blood orange. Mid-weight, it’s light on its feet while delivering wonderful energy and freshness, with snappy ripe red fruit, a refreshing, angular feel, and mouthwatering saline and acidity. This is certainly one of the highlights of the 2020 vintage. Drink 2025-2040.

The 2022 vintage-a pure varietal expression-opens with bold aromas of ripe blackcurrant and crushed blueberries, unfolding into layers of sun-dried fig, black raspberry, and juicy Damson plum. Notes of dark cocoa, spiced sandalwood, and smoked thyme weave through the expansive palate, enhancing its rich, velvety texture. This sophisticated wine promises to evolve beautifully with cellar age.

James Suckling 95 Rating
So strong but subtle and silky on the surface and muscular underneath. Very concentrated, tight and powerful, with mineral, iron, cocoa and chalk flavors on a foundation of superfine, powdery tannins. It’s pretty but dense, beautifully concentrated, full-bodied and well balanced.

Muga Blanco
Price range: $19.99 through $204.00Rioja Spain
Viura, Garnacha blanca and Malvasía de Rioja. A straw-yellow colour. It has a strikingly intense nose with floral aromas coming to the fore (white flowers, jasmine) together with notes of citrus fruit and apple peel. Complex and seductive. The entry on the palate is very supple with a sensation of ripeness. Interestingly though, on the rest of the palate a minerality and freshness comes though developing into a lively, crisp finish that also makes the wine a good partner for food.
