Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2017 SMD Cabernet Sauvignon Spring Mountain is redolent of crème de cassis, dried mulberries, fruitcake and fragrant earth, with hints of fallen leaves, tobacco leaf, earth, spice box and chocolate box. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is chock-full of spicy black fruit preserves with a firm, grainy texture and plenty of freshness, finishing long and layered. Only 547 cases were made. R4-2
