Paolo Scavino Langhe Nebbiolo

Price range: $26.99 through $288.00

Piedmont Italy
Fragrant and primary, the nose of this must-buy value pick offers raspberry, mint and rose. Silky in texture and light on its feet with a succulent blood orange, Campari-esque character, its very fine tannins dissolve swiftly. To achieve an immediately approachable version of Nebbiolo, the Scavino family draws on east-facing parcels on sandy soil in the village of La Morra. Maceration lasts just five days and ageing in neutral barrels has been reduced to eight months.
Must be ordered.

Description

100% Nebbiolo from two single vineyards in the village of La Morra, Bricco Manescotto and Annunziata, which accentuate the more ethereal and finer Nebbiolos aromatics and structure. These crus, that could be potentially used for Barolo, are declassified and the grapes vinified and aged to be Langhe Nebbiolo. A beautiful introduction to this noble grape and region. Vinification in stainless steel (low temperature fermentation, short maceration) and aging for 10 months in neutral oak.
