From one of the great sites in the Santa Lucia Highlands, the 2021 Pinot Noir Rosella’s Vineyard has a bright, juicy, medium-bodied style as well as perfumed red fruits (strawberries, cherries), lots of floral nuances, nicely integrated acidity, and fine tannins. This cuvée was completely destemmed and was brought up in 40% new French oak. I love its purity and elegance.

This is a big upgrade in finesse and clarity to such a popular, premium cabernet from Napa. It shows lots of blackberry, tar, cedar and oak-tree aromas that follow through to a full yet toned palate of fine, integrated tannins and a vivid finish. Owner David Duncan explained that the American oak they use in the wine for aging now comes 100% from their own barrel-making facilities, which tones down the vanilla character in the wine. Really impressive and delicious. It’s a joy to drink now, but can age. SP30-2 -

Ruby in color, this elegant wine has great acidity and lift on the mid-palate. Black currant and warm baking spices linger with a deep and fruity finish. It will provide drinking pleasure through 2047 given proper cellaring. A blend of 95.2% Cabernet Sauvignon, 2.5% Cabernet Franc, 1.9% Merlot and 0.4% Petit Verdot.
