  • Chateau Brane-Cantenac 2020 Bordeaux Blend Grand Cru Classe

    $99.99

    Margaux Bordeaux France
    Jeb Dunnuck 97 Rating
This estate has been on a roll, and their 2020 Chateau Brane-Cantenac is another brilliant wine that readers will love. Largely in the mold of the 2019, it has a deep purple hue as well as an incredible bouquet of blackcurrants, black cherries, freshly sharpened pencils, tobacco, and flowers. This medium to full-bodied, richly textured, concentrated, yet remarkably elegant 2020 has the vintage’s fresher, focused, elegant profile but still brings plenty of flesh and opulence. Beautifully done, it’s going to evolve for a solid 30 years in cold cellars and offer incredible pleasure all its life. Best After 2027. SP47-6

The 2019 Canon Chaigneau has developed beautifully since I tasted it en primeur. Ample and caressing in feel, the 2019 is quite attractive. Dark red/black fruit, mint, spice and floral accents play off the wine's considerable richness nicely. Time in the glass brings out its resonance and overall character. The 2019 is impeccable.

One of the benchmark wines for white Pessacs, and it has succeeded here. Plenty of curling aromatics out of the glass, a lovely grip and bounce. Good stuff. A yield of 47hl/ha. 25% new oak.

  • Chateau Clinet 2018 Pomerol

    $149.99

    Bordeaux France
    Jeb Dunnuck 99 Rating
Including slightly more Cabernet Sauvignon than usual, the 2018 Château Clinet is 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Sauvignon that was brought up in 75% new French oak. One of the superstars of the vintage, it has incredible elegance and finesse as well as gorgeous richness and depth. Notes of cassis and truffly dark fruits as well as tobacco, damp earth, chocolate, and lead pencil shavings emerge from the glass, and it's full-bodied, with a seamless, multi-dimensional texture, gorgeous tannins, and a great, great finish. It already offers incredible pleasure, but it won't hit maturity for another 5-7 years and should evolve for 30 years or more. This magical wine is in the same league as the 2015 and 2016 and drinking these beauties over the coming decades will be an incredible treat. R44-2 SP58-6

The Clos Floridene 2018 Blanc gives tropical scents of green guava, mango and pineapple with touches of honeysuckle and fresh ginger. Medium-bodied, the palate delivers fantastic freshness and mineral-tinged citrus layers, finishing long and clean. R33-4 BX-6

  • Chateau Clos Marsalette 2018 Red Blend

    $39.99$210.00

    Pessac-Leognan Bordeaux France

The 2018 Clos Marsalette is another winner, offering a ripe, medium to full-bodied, textured, and already delicious style that carries lots of red and black fruits, tobacco, earth, and a touch of spring flower-like aromas and flavors. Possessing beautiful purity, it has ripe, present tannins, yet they're almost covered by a wealth of fruit and extract. A blend of 55% Cabernet Sauvignon and 45% Merlot, it's well worth seeking out and is going to shine for 15-20 years. R11-1

  • Chateau Cos d’Estournel 2009 Saint-Estephe

One of the greatest young wines I have ever tasted, the monumental 2009 Cos d’Estournel has lived up to its pre-bottling potential. A remarkable effort from winemaking guru Jean-Guillaume Prats and owner Michel Reybier, this blend of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon and the rest Merlot (33%) and a touch of Cabernet Franc (2%) was cropped at 33 hectoliters per hectare. It boasts an inky/black/purple color along with an extraordinary bouquet of white flowers interwoven with blackberry and blueberry liqueur, incense, charcoal and graphite. The wine hits the palate with extraordinary purity, balance and intensity as well as perfect equilibrium, and a seamless integration of tannin, acidity, wood and alcohol. An iconic wine as well as a remarkable achievement, it is the greatest Cos d’Estournel ever produced. It is approachable enough at present that one could appreciate it with several hours of decanting, but it will not hit its prime for a decade, and should age effortlessly for a half century. An incredible wine from this estate that's as good as anything in the vintage, the 2018 Château Cos D'Estournel checks in as 74% Cabernet Sauvignon, 23% Merlot, 2% Cabernet Franc, and 1% Petit Verdot that was brought up in 50% new French oak. While some 2018s are going to offer pleasure right out of the gate, this isn't one of them, but rather it's a backward, tannic powerhouse of a wine that has flawless balance as well as a level of purity that's off the charts. Thrilling crème de cassis fruit, notes of lead pencil, damp earth, cedarwood, violets, and acacia flowers, full-bodied richness, masses of ultra-fine tannins, and a great, great finish all make for a legendary Saint-Estèphe that will need a good decade of bottle age yet evolve for 50 years or more. If you are tempted to try a bottle in its youth, it needs lots of air.

  • Chateau Coutet 2017 Barsac 375 ml

    $39.99

    Sauternes Bordeaux France

Another rocking sweet wine is the 2017 Château Coutet. This big, full-bodied, opulent beauty has serious notes of orange blossom, buttered citrus, and honey, yet also shows the more pure, precise, and elegant style of the vintage on the palate. The cool, overcast summer allowed good ripeness while preserving the purity of fruit and the whites (and dessert wines) from this vintage are beautiful!
