  • Leeuwin Estate 2021 Art Series Chardonnay

    $129.99$630.00

    Margaret River Western Australia
    Decanter Magazine 98 Rating
2021 was marginally cooler for whites, and while this is young, its power is irrepressible yet it also shows restraint and harmony. A fine gauze of delicate florals and spice tucked behind structure, power and tension. Tuberose, green peppercorn, pear skin, preserved lemon, green cardamon and peach blossom. The palate offers jewelled hues of peach pit; a little flint, lots of wet stone minerality and crushed white sage dance with a very fine thread of salinity and lacy acidity. This takes time to unravel and unfurl, but once it does, it’s got everything. The structure is superb and the 100% new oak meticulosity managed. Is this the greatest Art Series yet?

  • Les Vins de Vienne 2018 Condrieu La Chambée

    $59.99

    Northern Rhone Valley France
For fans of the Viognier grapes, no appellation is better in my opinion than Condrieu. When allowed to express itself and not over burdened with oak, this is a gorgeous yet delicate wine. Light golden in color. The nose is so pretty with white flowers, quince and peach. On the palate, this dances across the tongue. It is delicious with the quince and peach coming thru along with underlying minerality. While this should drink well for another five years, this is a wine that rewards drinking young. R45-1

The 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Mason’s Cabernet is a smoking value offering a big, rich, mouthful of ripe black fruit as well as full-bodied richness, ripe, velvety tannins, no hard edges, and classic Cabernet tobacco, spice, and chocolate nuances.

  • Lillian 2019 Syrah

    $124.99

    California
From the one and only Maggie Harrison, this cult-worthy Syrah is off the charts. The bouquet is a complex dance of dark fruit preserves, sandalwood, sweet flowers and spice-cake with mineral notes in the background. The fleshy, vivacious palate is packed tight with blueberry and violet. The finish is oh so long, framed in flowers and velvety tannins. Truly a knockout Syrah with the bones to age beautifully if you can keep your hands off it. R14-1

  • Limerick Lane “1910 Block” 2014 Russian River Valley Zinfandel

    $69.99

    California
    Wine Advocate 96 Rating
My highest score went to the 2014 Proprietary Red 1910 Block, which comes from an historic terroir planted in 1910. The plot is 4.7 acres, and while it is dominated by Zinfandel, the likes of Peloursin, Négrette, Syrah, Petite Sirah and Carignan are also found there. Those varieties are all co-fermented together for this wine, which was aged 18 months in neutral oak and 100% destemmed. Inky purple, it offers up notes of blackberry and blueberry liqueur with creosote, charcoal, earth, licorice and underbrush. It has a dense, full-bodied, opulent texture, beautiful, plush tannins, and adequate but relatively low acidity. This big, juicy, exuberant, hedonistic fruit bomb should drink well for another 7-8 years. The finished alcohol is 15.1%. SP16-1

Medium to deep garnet-purple colored, the 2015 Zinfandel Estate has a super spicy nose with tons of red and black berry preserves notes over hints of raisin cake, powdered cinnamon, sandalwood and unsmoked cigars. The palate is full-bodied with plush tannins and oodles of freshness boosting the rich, spicy fruit, finishing long and earthy. SP16-1
