Our Addax 2016 Tench Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon stains the glass with inky purple blackberries, giving up notions of cherries, cassis, and plum with asphalt and Italian leather. Full bodied yet focused in the mouth, it has a satisfying core of dark fruit and earthy layers with seductive tannins and a seemingly never-ending finish.

Inviting aromas of ripe black skinned fruit, new leather and blue flowers with a whiff of menthol shape the nose. Chewy and savory, the palate doles out succulent Marasca cherry, crushed raspberry and licorice alongside taut, fine-grained tannins. Drink 2022–2029. R10-4

Fresh and lifted, the 2018 Barbaresco Basarin is forward with notes of dusty earth, anise, and dried apricot. The palate is medium-bodied and reveals notes of blood orange, dried raspberry, and tea leaf. Another finessed and approachable wine from the Adriano estate’s 2018s, it can be enjoyed now or over the next 10-11 years. Drink 2021-2032.

Aftermath 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon
$69.98–$360.00Napa Valley California
This 100% Estate-grown Cabernet offers up an amazing bouquet of classic dark Cabernet fruit that jumps out of the glass upon impact. This youngster is lush, full in bodied and surprisingly well-balanced. The wine is multi-layered loaded with gorgeous black currant, dark chocolate, a whiff of anise, cassis and a touch of spice on the opulent palate. Extremely well-balanced and in-sync wine that will please the big Cab lover. This is a killer wine, but unfortunately a very limited production. R30-2

ALAIN GRAILLOT 2019 CROZES HERMITAGE
$39.99–$384.00Northern Rhone Valley France
Vinous 91-93 Rating
Spice-driven dark berry, cherry, peony and licorice aromas are sharpened by a zesty mineral flourish. Fleshy blackberry and bitter cherry flavors turn sweeter with air and pick up a smoky nuance on the back half. Shows fine definition and energy and finishes spicy and quite long, displaying gently chewy tannins and a resonating floral quality.

This too was just racked and impossible to read aromatically. More interesting are the notably finer mineral-driven flavors that possess a sophisticated mouth feel along with very fine drive and delineation on the impressively lengthy finish. This needs to add more depth but I believe that it will if allowed a few years of cellaring.
