  • Purlieu 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Missouri Hopper Vineyard

    $199.99

    Napa Valley California
    Jeb Dunnuck 97 Rating
Loads of blackcurrants, smoked tobacco, gravelly earth, espresso, and chocolate notes emerge from the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Missouri Hopper Vineyard, a Graves-look alike that offers full-bodied richness, ripe, polished tannins, a dense, rich mid-palate, and a blockbuster of a finish. Reminding me of a great vintage from Smith Haut Lafitte, it can be drunk today or cellared for 20 years or more. R31-3 SP22-1

  • Purlieu 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Georges III Vineyard

    $199.99

    Napa Valley California
The 2017 vintage from Georges III shows exceptional energy and aromatic diversity. The nose suggests sweet red fruit and dried herbs, but the palate reveals a far more complex alchemy of black fruit, red velvet cake, cherries, and spice box aromas. Silky but structured, linear but unexpected, this fascinating wine will continue to unfold and develop with time in the cellar. SP23-1

  • Davis Estates 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Phase V

    $199.99

    Napa Valley Caifornia
    Wine Advocate 95 Rating
This includes fruit from the Davis Estates vineyard, Beckstoffer Georges III and Palisades vineyards. A blend of 86% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Cabernet Franc, 5% Merlot and 4% Petite Sirah aged for 28 months in 85% new French oak, the 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Phase V from winemaker Philippe Melka is very deep purple-black in color and features fragrant crème de cassis, preserved plums and baked cherries with touches of baking spices, garrigue, tapenade and tobacco plus a hint of pepper. The palate is medium to full-bodied with loads of elegantly played black fruit and spicy notions, framed by chewy tannins and finishing long. 464 cases produced, to be released in April 2019. SP21-1

  • Saxum 2018 Paderewski Vineyard

    $199.99

Willow Creek District Paso Robles California
    Jeb Dunnuck 97 Rating
Bottled in April (as were all the early release 2018s), the 2018 Paderewski Vineyard is 44% Syrah, 22% Mataro, 15% Zinfandel, 9% Grenache, and the rest Tempranillo and Viognier. Deep purple, it has a wonderful bouquet of blueberries, wild strawberries, ground pepper, orange blossom, licorice, and violets. Beautifully textured, full-bodied, and both rich and elegant, it’s a stunning wine to enjoy over the coming 15 years or more. SP23-3

  • Chateau Les Carmes Haut-Brion 2018 Red Pessac-Leognan

    $199.99

    Bordeaux France
    Jeb Dunnuck 100 Rating
The 2018 Château Les Carmes Haut-Brion is a rock star of a wine and is based on a unique blend of 37% Cabernet Franc, 34% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 29% Merlot that was brought up in 80% new French oak. Offering a deep ruby/purple color as well as a thrilling bouquet of blackcurrants, smoked tobacco, chocolate, violets, damp earth, and truffle, it hits the palate with a full-bodied yet almost understated, building style that carries ripe, supple tannins, gorgeous amounts of smoky black fruits, and an endearing, layered, multi-dimensional texture that keeps you coming back to the glass. A dead ringer for a great vintage of Haut-Brion, it is far from unapproachable today yet needs 7-8 years of bottle age for the fireworks to develop and will have 50-years or more of longevity! Hats off to Guillaume Pouthier for a magical, seamless, singular beauty! SP58-18

  • Aubert 2016 Pinot Noir UV Vineyard

    $199.99

    Sonoma Coast California
    Jeb Dunnuck 100 Rating
Leading off the Pinot Noirs, this is unquestionably the finest set of releases from the estate I’ve ever tasted, and it appears some of the magic Mark finds with his Chardonnays is finding its way over to the Pinot Noirs. The 2016 Pinot Noir UV Vineyard is 100% Calera clone (which reportedly comes from Vosne-Romanée) from a site in the Sonoma Coast and was brought up in 60-70% new French oak. It also saw around 10-20% whole clusters. Incredible ripe cherries, strawberries, exotic spices, blood orange, and floral notes all soar from this transparently colored, multi-dimensional, layered Pinot Noir that has no hard edges, ultra-fine tannin, and a finish that just won’t quit. It’s the finest Pinot Noir ever made from this address. SP7-5

  • Aubert 2016 Pinot Noir UV-SL Vineyard

    $199.99

    Sonoma Coast California
    Jeb Dunnuck 99 Rating
The 2016 Pinot Noir UV-SL Vineyard flirts with perfect and is another incredible effort from the Sonoma Coast. Deeply colored, with ripe cherries, underbrush, black currants, graphite, blood orange, and forest floor notes, it hits the palate with full-bodied richness, ample tannin, a big mid-palate, and a blockbuster finish. Despite being a rich, powerful wine, it shows remarkable elegance and purity, as well as a weightless, seamless texture. SP9-2

  • Janzen 2018 Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon

    $199.99

    Napa Valley California
    Jeb Dunnuck 98 Rating
Lastly, the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Janzen Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard is more expressive and ready to go, offering a beautiful bouquet of cassis, blueberries, flowery incense, tobacco leaf, sandalwood, and violet-like nuances. Beautifully balanced and full-bodied, with that classic To Kalon sexiness as well as purity on the palate, this is another head-turning wine in this lineup that can be drunk today or cellared for 15-20 years. R22-1

  • Saxum 2016 James Berry Vineyard

    $199.99

Willow Creek District Paso Robles California
    Jeb Dunnuck 100 Rating
I tasted the 2016 James Berry Vineyard out of barrel and it’s a smokin’ blend of 55% Grenache, 24% Mourvèdre, 13% Syrah and 8% Counoise that saw 24% whole clusters and aging mostly in barrel. Black raspberry and cassis intermixed with notions of mint, violets/spring flowers and pepper give way to a sensationally layered, full-bodied, gorgeous red that has excellent freshness and a great, great finish. While this cuvée has leaned towards to the more elegant side of the spectrum over the past 6-7 years, this is a return to the richer, more blockbuster style versions, and I think it’s better for it.
