Long Shadows 2013 Pirouette
$59.99Columbia Valley Washington
Jeb Dunnuck 93 Rating
While a step back from the blockbuster 2012, Philippe Melka’s 2013 Pirouette is no slouch and offers serious amounts of ripe black cherry fruits, graphite, hints of chocolate and plenty of sweet oak in a beautifully concentrated, ripe, textured package. Made from 63% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot, 12% Petit Verdot and 5% Cabernet Franc (mostly from Red Mountain) that spent 22 months in 75% new French oak, give bottle 3-5 years in the cellar and enjoy over the following decade or more. Long Shadows 2017 Chester Kidder Red Blend
$49.99Columbia Valley
Wine Enthusiast 93 Rating
Aromas of black fruit, anise, vanilla, cocoa and other barrel spices are followed by pitch-black, rich, hedonistic fruit flavors that bring the acidity and tannin structure of the vintage. It's intense, but with plenty of sophistication. A lengthy finish, caps it off. Best after 2025. R20-2 -
Long Shadows 2019 Sequel Syrah
$54.99Columbia Valley
Jeb Dunnuck 95 Rating
The 2019 Syrah Sequel is a big, rich, meaty, powerful beauty offering copious amounts of ripe black fruits as well as ground pepper, chocolate, graphite, and spicy oak all soaring from the glass. It packs a punch, as always, with its ripe, sexy style, yet it shows the cooler, elegant style of the vintage beautifully and is balanced, has ripe tannins, and a great finish. It’s going to cruise for 10-12 years in cold cellars. regular $64.99 R14-4 -
Lopez De Heredia 2012 Vina Tondonia Reserva
$49.99Rioja Spain
Decanter Magazine 94 Rating
After six years in barrel (produced at López de Heredia’s own cooperage) and three in bottle prior to release this is all you can expect from a classical Viña Tondonia with its focused intensity and muscular yet super elegant tannins. Assertive but also super silky, with juicy fruit gliding through the palate while being pleasantly pulled back by an energetic, smoky verve. Broody while at the same time mature – another accomplished vintage of a true classic. R26-3 -
Louis Jadot 2020 Beaune 1er Cru Clos des Ursules
$99.99Cote de Beaune Cote d'Or Burgundy France
Wine Spectator 95 Rating
A picture of elegance and finesse, with cherry, strawberry, floral and stony mineral aromas and flavors, this red is charming and seamless enough to enjoy now, yet will improve with age. Fine-grained tannins and bright acidity provide structure, while the finish lingers. Best from 2024 through 2042. SP4-6 -
Louis Latour 2020 Volnay 1er Cru En Chevret
$124.99Burgundy France
James Suckling 95 Rating
This is so sensual that it’s dangerous and it ought to be classified as a listed drug! So sweet, silky and delicate, in spite of the excellent structure behind it. Only medium-bodied, but in a particular way that increases its appeal. Then comes the very fresh finish that makes it positively refreshing. Drink or hold. R15-2 -
Marchesi di Barolo 2019 Barolo Tradizione
$39.99Piedmont Italy
Jeb Dunnuck 91 Rating
The brick red-colored 2019 Barolo has an expressive nose woven with notes of dried cherries, menthol, black truffles, and pine. It boasts a good deal of energy on the palate, with ripe concentration, an even spine of acidity, and a sanguine lift of iron on the finish. Offering ripe tannins, a velvety texture, and a good finish, this is a solid entry Barolo to enjoy over the next 5-6 years. R44-4 -
Marciano 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate
$239.99Napa Valley California
Jeb Dunnuck 98+ Rating
Bottled in September of this year, the 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate checks in as 82% Cabernet Sauvignon and 18% Cabernet Franc brought up in French oak. Its inky purple color is followed by classic notes of blackcurrants, lead pencil shavings, spring flowers, and hints of crushed rock. Deep, seamless, ultra-pure, and incredibly classic on the palate, it's another brilliant, classic Napa Cabernet Sauvignon from winemaker Morgan Maureze. It’s slightly more reserved than the 2015 (which is to be expected as the vintages are dramatically different) and is going to benefit from 3-5 years of bottle age. R26-2 -
Marciano 2017 Estate M Proprietary Red
$139.99Napa Valley California
Wine Advocate 95 Rating
This was tasted as a barrel sample. A blend of Bordeaux varieties, the 2017 M by Marciano has a deep garnet-purple color and comes strutting out of the glass with the most gorgeous perfume of lilacs, red roses and baking spices, over a core of warm cassis, blackberry pie and preserved blueberries with wafts of pencil shavings and black loam. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is elegantly crafted with a quiet intensity and compelling tension, textured with beautifully fine-grained tannins, finishing long and fragrant. SP11-1
