  • Romano Dal Forno 2017 Valpolicella Superiore

    $124.99

    Veneto Italy
    James Suckling 95 Rating
Pungent nose of violets, amarena cherries, dried figs and lightly charred oak. Some toffee notes emerge with air, together with more pressed flowers. Not so much full-bodied as full-flavored, with silky, fine and polished tannins. Very young and driven at the moment. Lacks the depth and complexity of more fortunate vintages, but still shows exceptional quality. Try from 2024.

  • Rudd 2014 Samantha’s Cabernet Sauvignon

    $169.99

    Oakville Napa Valley California
    Jeb Dunnuck 94 Rating
Coming all from estate fruit and made from 81% Cabernet Sauvignon, 16% Cabernet Franc and the rest Malbec and Petit Verdot, the 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Samantha's Estate is a charming, ripe, sexy beauty that's loaded with notions of blackcurrants, spicy oak, and lead pencil-like aromas and flavors. Ripe, opulent, and much more forward and sexy than the Cabernet Sauvignon Estate, drink it over the coming 15-20 years. R46-5

  • Saddleback Cellars 2015 Oakville Merlot

    $44.99

    Calistoga Napa Valley California
Salty briny oak meets big concentrated flavors of black currant, black cherry and leather in this bold brawny red. It is blended with 9% Cabernet Sauvignon, which adds to its tannic power and spicy length. SP17-1

  • Saint Cosme 2018 Gigondas

    $49.99

    Southern Rhone Valley France
    Wine Advocate 93 Rating
Saint Cosme's 2018 Gigondas is a blend of 70% Grenache, 15% Mourvèdre, 14% Syrah and 1% Cinsault, aged in a combination of new and used oak, with 30% of the volume matured in concrete. Full-bodied and generous, it's round and supple, with no hard edges to hamper the easy flow of asphalt, red raspberries and black cherries across the palate. Boasting ample but not excessive concentration, it's a lovely, seductive example of Gigondas to enjoy over the next decade or so. SP38-12

  • Saint Damien 2018 La Louisiane Gigondas

    $39.99

    Southern Rhone Valley France
    Wine Advocate 97 Rating
The 2018 Gigondas La Louisiane looks to be another terrific example of this cuvée. Raspberries, black cherries, tea leaves and violets all appear on the nose, while the full-bodied palate is rich, velvety and long on the finish. R10-3 SP34-6

  • Saint Damien 2020 Gigondas Vieilles Vignes

    $29.99

    Southern Rhone Valley France
    Jeb Dunnuck 94 Rating
Lastly, the 2020 Gigondas Vieilles Vignes is straight-up classic Gigondas with its darker berry fruits, leather, peppery garrigue, and roasted herb-like aromas and flavors. Medium to full-bodied, balanced, and elegant, it doesn't have the density of the two single vineyard releases but shows the pretty, elegant, classic style of the vintage beautifully. It will last for 10-15 years. Best After 2023.

  • Saint Damien 2020 Les Souteyrades Gigondas

    $34.99

    Southern Rhone Valley France
    Jeb Dunnuck 97 Rating
The 2020 Gigondas Les Souteyrades is also utterly brilliant. Giving up lots of kirsch liqueur, orange blossom, ground pepper, and herbes de Provence-like aromatics, it hits the palate with full-bodied richness and a layered, seamless, elegant mouthfeel that has awesome tannins as well as purity of fruit. It's another sensational Gigondas to enjoy over the coming two decades. Best After 2023. R28-3
