  • Chateau de Pez 2019 Red Blend

    $49.99

    Saint-Estèphe Bordeaux
    Wine Advocate 94 Rating
This year’s blend is 56% Cabernet Sauvignon, 42% Merlot, 1% Cabernet Franc and 1% Petit Verdot. Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2019 de Pez comes tumbling out of the glass with an astonishingly beautiful perfume of lilacs, black cherries and black raspberries over a core of stewed plums, clove oil, dark chocolate and Sichuan pepper. The medium-bodied palate is jam-packed with energetic black fruits, supported by a firm foundation of ripe, grainy tannins and lovely freshness, finishing long and perfumed. I love where this once-malingering château is headed—bravo to winemaker Nicolas Glumineau from Pichon Lalande! R14-3

  • Aubert 2021 Pinot Noir CIX

    $199.99

    Sonoma Coast California
    Antonio Galloni 98 Rating
The 2021 Pinot Noir CIX Vineyard is fabulous. Rich, deep and explosive, the 2021 possesses striking inner perfume and brilliant fruit. Sweet red cherry, plum, spice and pomegranate build into the heady, sumptuous finish. Goldridge soils over volcanic ash are magical here. What a wine. Drink 2024-2033. R27-5

  • Bedrock 2018 Bedrock Vineyard Heritage

    $49.99

    Sonoma Valley California
    Wine Advocate 94 Rating
Medium ruby-purple, the 2018 Bedrock Vineyard Heritage opens with fantastic perfume: ripe peach, sliced blueberries, warm red cherries, underbrush, violet and dried tangerine peel with nuances of crushed stone, dried hollyhock and exotic spices. Medium-bodied, it floods the mouth with singularly perfumed fruit layers, with a chewy frame and wicked freshness, finishing long and evolving. Wow! Just a pup, give this another year or two in bottle and drink it over the next 10-15 years. SP20-9

  • Aubert 2019 Chardonnay UV-SL Vineyard

    $199.99

    Sonoma Coast California
    Wine Advocate 98 Rating
A barrel sample, the 2019 Chardonnay UV-SL opens with compelling floral notes—honeysuckle and lime blossoms—over a core of red apples, green guava and honeydew melon with underlying suggestions of baking bread, allspice and marzipan. The full-bodied palate has a pleasant hint of phenolic grip to the texture with seamless acidity supporting the densely laden apple and tropical fruit flavors, finishing long and yeasty/toasty. A beautiful minerality brings a lovely character. The palate is round with a finesse offering the aromatic flavors of gingerbread, honey and peach. The finish is persistent and ends on a light and refreshing mineral note. The first notes are very fine, complex and delicate. The aromas of peaches, quince and white flowers follow. Light aeration reveals the delicate scents of exotic fruit. The minerality brings a beautiful equilibrium and harmony.

  • Pecchenino 2018 San Giuseppe Barolo

    $54.99

    Piedmont Italy
    Jeb Dunnuck 93 Rating
Smoky incense lifts from the 2018 Barolo San Giuseppe, followed by notes of palo santo, sage, and red cherry. Medium bodied on the palate, with fine but present tannins and notes of pomegranate, tea leaf, and orange rind, it is attractive and structured for the vintage. Drink 2025-2040. SP42-6

  • Château Saint Pierre 2020 Saint-Julien

    $79.99

    Bordeaux
    Jeb Dunnuck 96 Rating
The 2020 Château Saint-Pierre (Saint-Julien) looks to be beautiful, with a fresher, focused, yet still powerful style that fits nicely into the vintage. Lots of black and blue fruits, crushed stone, and graphite define the nose, and it’s full-bodied, with a great mid-palate, ripe yet building tannins, and a great finish. It’s going to need time to integrate its oak, but the purity of fruit, quality of the tannins, and balance are all spot on. SPBX-6

  • Chateau Montrose 2020 Saint-Estephe

    $269.99

    Bordeaux France
    Wine Advocate 100 Rating
Surpassing the 2019 and rivaling the 2016 as this estate’s finest vintage of the last few decades, the 2020 Montrose is a monument in the making. Wafting from the glass with aromas of violets, dark berries, licorice, loamy soil, black truffle and subtle spices, it’s full-bodied, deep and layered, with a seamless, elegantly muscular profile, terrific purity and energy, beautifully powdery tannins and a long, resonant finish. It checks in at 13.7% alcohol, the same as the superb 2009, but it is even deeper, more vibrant and more complex than the 2009. This will be worth a special effort to seek out and only confirms Montrose’s status as one of the contemporary Médoc’s leading estates and a de facto first growth. Best after 2030. SPBX-6
