A nod to the original vintage of PerUs, this wine reveals the continued love affair between Sugar Loaf Mountain's Bordeaux varietals and Tench Vineyard's Cabernet Sauvignon. This is a good estate riesling. A great go-to. Scents of Rose’s Lime, quince, baked apple and tea tree, the acidity sneaking up to impart a gritty finish of talc and vitamin C, detracting. Just a bit shrill. Nevertheless, this will age well for those in pursuit of the Aussie style. Drink or hold.

Produced by Alto de Casablanca, Primus 2018 is a full-bodied Chilean Carmenère fragrant with earthy florals, mixed dark berry and wild herb aromas, juicy with dark berry, violets, sage and thyme flavours with a spicy peppery finish. Nicely done. The Caménère vines for this wine are south facing along the Tinguiririca River.

The 2018 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru is performing very well, wafting from the glass with a deep-pitched bouquet of cassis, wild berries, incense, rich soil tones and woodsmoke. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, layered and broad-shouldered, with a deep and layered core, rich structuring tannins and ripe but succulent acids. Long and sapid, this is another excellent Clos Vougeot from Faiveley, and this cuvée seems to go from strength to strength every year.
