Ridge 2017 Monte Bello 1.5 lt magnum
$399.99Santa Cruz Mountains California

Pure perfection, the 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Monte Bello is a sensational effort from this estate that should be snatched up by drinkers and collectors. Based on 72% Cabernet Sauvignon, 16% Merlot, 8% Petit Verdot, and the rest Cabernet Franc that was brought up mostly in new American oak, this saturated purple-hued beauty is legendary Monte Bello in the making and has a stunning yet primordial bouquet of crème de cassis, lead pencil shavings, graphite, chocolate, and chalky minerality. Full-bodied, incredibly powerful, and one of the most concentrated versions of this cuvée ever made (I've had most of them), it needs a solid decade of bottle age and will have 50-60 years of overall longevity. Despite the long drinking window, it offers plenty of pleasure even today. I followed this bottle for two days and it showed best right out of the gate, closing down and becoming more brooding and backward with air. It's an incredible wine that I promise you won't regret having in your cellar. -
Quinta do Noval 2000 Vintage Port
$129.99Portugal
Wine Enthusiast 95 Rating
One of the vintage’s standouts, the 2000 Quinta do Noval is incredibly rich and intense, with a density that made me think I should reach for a spoon. Chocolate and coffee, prune and date aromas; plum cake flavors. Despite the richness, there is a superb backbone of acidity and ripe tannins that suggests peak maturity is probably two decades or more away. R32-1 -

James Suckling 90 Rating
Aromas and flavors of cedro with light floral and herbal touches. Fresh, tasty palate with a clean, persistent finish. Just slightly rustic from the lees stirring, but interesting. Drink now.

St. Michael-Eppan 2022 Pinot Grigio
$19.99 – $204.00Sudtirol Trentino-Alto Adige Italy
St. Michael Eppan’s Alto Adige Pinot Grigio was born at 400-500 meters above sea level in the vineyards of the municipalities of Appiano and Caldaro. The wine is a pure Pinot Grigio, whose grapes are harvested at the end of September. The must is fermented in steel vats, where it also partially carries out the malolactic fermentation. In the glass it has a straw yellow color with light greenish reflections. The nose opens with hints of both white and yellow pulp fruit. On the palate it is warm and soft. Ideal as an aperitif on its own and as an accompaniment to simple cold land and sea appetizers.

Marciano 2017 Estate M Proprietary Red
$139.99Napa Valley California
Wine Advocate 95 Rating
This was tasted as a barrel sample. A blend of Bordeaux varieties, the 2017 M by Marciano has a deep garnet-purple color and comes strutting out of the glass with the most gorgeous perfume of lilacs, red roses and baking spices, over a core of warm cassis, blackberry pie and preserved blueberries with wafts of pencil shavings and black loam. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is elegantly crafted with a quiet intensity and compelling tension, textured with beautifully fine-grained tannins, finishing long and fragrant. SP11-1 -
Torres 2015 Salmos
$39.99 – $210.00Priorat Spain
Wine Advocate 91 Rating
Along with the 2014, I also tasted the 2015 Salmos, which is from an earlier and riper year. It's a similar blend of Cariñena, Garnacha and Syrah from the same vineyards and produced in a similar way, with fermentation in stainless steel and aged in French barriques for 14 months. The wine showed more finesse and freshness than the 2014, and there is more depth and complexity here too. There are some tannins that would welcome food and/or some more time in bottle. Very tasty. Doubleback 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon
$119.99 – $600.00Walla Walla Valley, Columbia Valley, Washington
Jeb Dunnuck 95 Rating
The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon (90% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% each of Malbec and Merlot) comes from a handful of sites in the Walla Walla Valley and spent 23 months in 67% new French oak. Classic, old-school notes of blackcurrants, leafy tobacco, earth, saddle leather, and spicy herbs gives way to full-bodied Cabernet Sauvignon with notable balance, a great mid-palate, ripe yet building tannins, and a great finish. This pure, clean, classic Cabernet will benefit from 3-4 years of bottle age and keep for 20 years or more. It's beautifully done.

Ziata 2014 Green Valley Pinot Noir
$39.99Russian River Valley California
Wine Enthusiast 91 Rating
From a great site in this cool appellation, this wine shines with a powerful grip of ripe cherry and strawberry fruit and earthy undertones of dried herb and cardamom cola. Layered and dense, it has a seductively smooth texture and bite of minerality. R14-1 -
Lievland 2021 Old Vines Chenin Blanc
$17.99 – $180.00Paarl South Africa
Made from old-vines ranging between 38 and 45 years old, the wine has a light straw color with a golden hue, showing notes of white peach, citrus and pineapple on the nose. The mouthfeel is rich and ripe and is coupled with a vibrant acidity. Tying all the elements together on the finish is a compelling minerality. This wine has the intensity and structure to develop gracefully over the next 5 -7 years.
