Orin Swift 2024 Eight Years in the Desert
Price range: $39.99 through $210.00California
That first catches the eye is the opaque mauve core paired with a vivid fuchsia as it approaches the rim. Coating the glass, the 2024 Eight Years in the Desert opens with aromatics reminiscent of a black plum and boysenberry galette, Telli cherry peppercorn, cedar and musk. Taut yet supple on the entry, the palate exudes notes of wild blackberry, crispy pluot, a hint of fennel and slate. Pleasing texture on the finish, the soft framing tannins lead into a close of milk chocolate covered raspberry.

Othello by Dominus 2021 Bordeaux Red Blend
$44.99Napa Valley California
James Suckling 96 Rating
Lots of blackberries, dark cherries and hints of orange peel and bark in the aromas. Medium- to full-bodied with fine creamy tannins that caress the palate. The tannic tension gives this focus and brightness. 85% cabernet sauvignon, 9% cabernet franc and the rest petit verdot. Hard not to drink now, but better in two to three years. R38-2 BX-6 -

Palmaz Vineyards 2019 Chardonnay Amalia Napa Valley
$59.99California
The 2019 vintage of Amalia Chardonnay is the epitome of summer. Hints of honeysuckle and kiwi rise from the glass as you swirl. Unlike its namesake, the Amalia Chardonnay is shy at first. But soon it becomes synonymous with the Palmaz matriarch, warm and inviting. Meyer lemon rind and hints of tropical banana balance seamlessly with a full-bodied mouthfeel and well-integrated oak. Will do lovely with age, but don’t fret if you open a bottle now, the wine would be a perfect finishing touch to any summer gathering. R13-1 -

This deep and delicious “regular” bottling from Patz & Hall is fragrant in black cherries, pine needles and ground cloves before blackberries, black tea and hints of cinnamon and cedar play across the palate. Patz & Hall 2022 Pinot Noir Pisoni Vineyard
Price range: $69.99 through $360.00Santa Lucia Highlands California
Jeb Dunnuck 96 Rating
Complex and voluminous, the 2022 Pinot Noir Pisoni Vineyard has plenty of power and is still developing, not completely ready to conquer the world quite yet. Still, despite its concentration, it feels light on its feet, the acidity buoyant behind the scenes. With savory dark fruit, a dried herb/tarragon note, and plenty of umami, this charismatic wine is rich and ripe and ready for the cellar. Age 10-15 years.

Paul Hobbs 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon
$119.99Napa Valley California
Jeb Dunnuck 94 Rating
The base release is the 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon and it comes from multiple sites throughout the valley. It’s a killer wine and offers the classic sweet crème de cassis and blackberry fruit that's the hallmark of the vintage. With loads of richness, notes of Asian spices, pencil lead and cedar, full-bodied richness, and sweet tannin, it's already drinking beautifully yet will keep for another two decades or more.
