Dark red in color, the 2020 Barolo Prapo displays a riper and sunnier profile, with rich aromas of black cherries, lavender oil, balsamic, and tarry earth. Medium to full-bodied, it’s weightless on the palate, with a savory note of tea leaf upfront as well as hints of cherry pit and walnut, and it has a long finish. It’s a bit more broad-shouldered but wears it with a graceful touch. Drink 2026-2046.

Medium-bodied, it displays more intensity on the palate, with an elegant but more chiseled feel, ripe tannins, even, energetic acidity, and a mouthwatering finish. It’s going to benefit from another couple years in bottle. Drink 2026-2046.

There is a sense of translucence in the 2016 that is just compelling. Deceptive in its mid-weight structure, the 2016 has a ton of richness that emerges over time. Medium-bodied, it has refined ripe tannins, even acidity, and a clean, stony textured finish. A lovely and charming wine, it’s drinking well now and will drink well over the coming 8-10 years.
