Castelli del Grevepesa 2021 Strade di Toscana
$14.99 – $144.00Tuscany Italy
International Wine Report 92 Rating
The 2021 Strade di Toscana offers aromas of fresh crushed cherries, spices, tobacco, florals, pepper and hints of tobacco all coming together in the glass. On the palate this is medium-bodied and nicely balanced with a lovely combination of ripe fruits and acidity leading up to the spice-tinged finish. Still a bit youthful now, but there is lovely potential for this to shape up nicely over the next few years.

Castello dei Rampolla 2018 d’Alceo Toscana
$184.99Tuscany Italy
Vinous 99 Rating
The 2018 D’Alceo is a wild, exotic wine. Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot come together in a wine that is sumptuous, layered and exceptionally beautiful. Inky blue/purplish fruit, sage, mint, lavender and chocolate are some of the many notes that take shape. The 2018 was fermented in cement then aged 12 months in a combination of 500L tonneaux and barriques. This really blooms with time. Castello dei Rampolla’s Sammarco and D’Alceo have been benchmarks for several decades. Both 2018s will take their place among the best wines ever made here. Maurizia di Napoli and her brother, Luca, craft wines of notable intensity and pedigree. Biodynamic farming and low intervention winemaking are the rule. Of the two flagship wines, D’Alceo is a bit more opulent, likely because the terraced vineyards are south and south-east facing, while Sammarco has a bit more tannic backbone and energy. Both are off the charts great. SP44-6 -
Castello di Ama 2019 San Lorenzo Chianti Classico Gran Selezione
$59.99 – $318.00Tuscany Italy
James Suckling 97 Rating
Perfumed and beautiful with flowers, cherries and raspberries. Forest fruits, too. Full-bodied with extremely fine tannins that run the length of the wine and are wonderfully integrated, spreading across the palate. Lasts for minutes. Better after 2025, but already fantastic.

Castello di Monsanto 2020 Chianti Classico Riserva
$29.99 – $150.00Tuscany Italy
Jeb Dunnuck 94 Rating
The 2020 Chianti Classico Riserva pours a rich ruby with a saturated magenta hue. It’s a bit reserved initially but holds onto a sunny and pure profile offering layers of blackberry coulis and a touch of sunny blue fruit, along with sweet sage, rocky earth, and fresh lavender. Medium to full-bodied, it fills the palate with balanced richness and a weightless, rounded feel with sweet tannins and notes of pure black tea on the finish. It handles this warm vintage with a graceful feel, and although it might not be the longest-lived of these wines, I wouldn’t be surprised to find it showing beautifully in 15 or more years. Drink 2025-2040.
