The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Mon Chevalier comes from the Knights Valley, just north of Napa Valley in the larger Sonoma County, and it always seems to me to have one foot in Napa and one foot in Sonoma. Boasting a similar ruby/purple color (as do all of the releases here), it’s slightly more reserved and stately (knightly, if you will), with building aromas and flavors of blackcurrants, toasted bread, dried violets, baking spices, and loamy earth. These carry to a pure, full-bodied, multi-dimensional Cabernet that’s flawlessly balanced, has ripe yet certainly present tannins, a notable sense of minerality, and a great, great finish. It’s just another incredible wine from Luc Morlet that can be drunk today with ample pleasure or cellared for 20-30 years if, for some reason, you feel the need to delay gratification. SP25-6

Cask-aged for 14 months, the 2022 El Anden De La Estacion is a youthful, approachable blend of 65% Tempranillo and 35% Garnacha, the first one made in 2016. Fermented using indigenous yeast, it’s left on the lees to soften the texture and accentuate the red and black cherry and berry fruit. It’s quite delightful and impressively well-made for the price point, full-bodied but balanced.

A straw-yellow colour.It has a strikingly intense nose with floral aromas coming to the fore (white flowers, jasmine) together with notes of citrus fruit and apple peel. Complex and seductive. The entry on the palate is very supple with a sensation of ripeness. Interestingly though, on the rest of the palate a minerality and freshness comes though developing into a lively, crisp finish that also makes the wine a good partner for food.

Fresh and exquisite finish. This is a much more refined and harmonic rendition of their classic wine. Three years in French oak from their own production. Very enjoyable now, but this will improve with age for a long time. R41-4
