Tolaini 2021 Al Passo Toscana
Price range: $24.99 through $240.00Tuscany Italy
Antonio Galloni 94 Rating
The 2021 Al Passo is a very beautiful and expressive wine. Dried cherry, tobacco, cedar, licorice and incense lend notable aromatic nuance. This Sangiovese/Merlot/Cabernet Sauvignon blend has a ton to offer. Bright acids pull it all together in style.

Tolaini 2021 Valdisanti Cabernet Sauvignon Toscana
Price range: $39.99 through $360.00Tuscany Italy
James Suckling 95 Rating
Clove, vanilla, restrained cherry, milk chocolate and balsamic aromas. The attack is soft and velvety, with dense tannins, a savory character, a full body and crisp, refreshing acidity. Great mid-palate extraction and details. Embracing finish, long and consistent. Drinkable now, but best from 2031.

Tolaini 2022 Tenuta San Giovanni Valdisanti
Price range: $39.99 through $198.00Tuscany Italy
50% Cabernet Sauvignon and 50% Cabernet Franc. San Giovanni is the name of Tolaini’s vineyard near the town of San Giovanni a Cerreto. In the church adjacent to the vineyard there is a painting by Rutilio Manetti depicting Saint John the Evangelist (“San Giovanni”) offering to Mary a chalice with a serpent, the international symbol of Saint John and chosen for this label to honor this historic land that bears his name. Grapes are first selected during harvest in the vineyard and then by an optical sorter when they arrive at the winery; they are destemmed and the whole berries are immediately placed in French oak fermenters. Fermentation is temperature-controlled and the must is kept in contact with the wine for 25 days. The wine spends 16 months in French barriques, of which 6 months are spent resting on the fine lees. Maceration 25 days.

Torbreck 2020 Runrig Shiraz – Viognier
Price range: $179.99 through $900.00Barossa Valley Australia
Wine Enthusiast 96 Rating
Rich, evocative aromas of mulberry, blueberry, coffee bean and hot-cocoa mix lend approachability to what is otherwise a rich, dense wine, packed with flavor, but also with powerful, chalk dust tannins that need serious protein if opening now. Patience will be rewarded, however. Give this a few more years in bottle. SPBX-12

Torres 2015 Salmos
Price range: $39.99 through $210.00Priorat Spain
Wine Advocate 91 Rating
Along with the 2014, I also tasted the 2015 Salmos, which is from an earlier and riper year. It's a similar blend of Cariñena, Garnacha and Syrah from the same vineyards and produced in a similar way, with fermentation in stainless steel and aged in French barriques for 14 months. The wine showed more finesse and freshness than the 2014, and there is more depth and complexity here too. There are some tannins that would welcome food and/or some more time in bottle. Very tasty.
