Chateau Lascombes 2010 Red Blend Margaux
$119.99 – $660.00Bordeaux France
Jeb Dunnuck 96 Rating
The 2010 Château Lascombes is flat-out gorgeous and might be the finest vintage from this château I’ve tasted. Based on 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 45% Merlot, and 5% Petit Verdot that was raised in 90% new French oak, it has a dense purple/plum hue as well as a blockbuster-like style in its darker currants, cassis, smoky tobacco, incense, and graphite aromas and flavors. Beautifully textured, full-bodied, dense, and concentrated, but still graceful and beautifully balanced, it’s clearly in its prime drinking window yet has another 2-3 decades of overall longevity. It is impossible to resist today. SP51-6

Chateau Larrivet Haut-Brion 2020 Red Blend Pessac-Leognan
$54.99 – $300.00Bordeaux France
Jeb Dunnuck 95 Rating
The 2020 Château Larrivet Haut-Brion is a gorgeous, incredibly satisfying Pessac, and it’s certainly up with the finest vintages I’ve tasted from this estate. It has lots of red, blue, and black fruits as well as ample spice, leafy tobacco, truffle, and smoked earth, and it develops a beautiful sense of complexity and nuance with time in the glass. Medium to full-bodied on the palate, it shows the vibrant, elegant style of the vintage, has ripe tannins, perfect overall balance, and a great finish. If you love a great Graves, buy a case of this beauty and enjoy over the next two decades. This estate continues to fly too far under the radar for most consumers.

The classic 2020 Chateau Fontenil from this Fronsac chateau is a winner and well worth a case purchase. Giving up lots of spiced red and black fruits, smoked tobacco, and flowery incense notes, it’s medium to full-bodied, has a round, supple, elegant texture, beautiful tannins, and nicely integrated oak. This sexy, seamless, straight-up impressive Fronsac will evolve for at least a decade

Chateau Maurac 2018 Red Blend Haut Medoc
$29.99 – $150.00Bordeaux France
Wine Enthusiast 92 Rating
A 24-acre vineyard close to Saint-Estèphe has produced this rich and dense wine. Tannins give a solid base to generous black-plum and berry fruits. Initially it seems as though this wine will develop quickly, but that is deceptive. With the tannic core and firm aftertaste, the wine will take its time. Drink from 2024.

Chateau Fonplegade 2020 Bordeaux Blend St Emilion Grand Cru Classe
$59.99 – $300.00Bordeaux France
Jeb Dunnuck 94 Rating
Utterly classic notes of red and black cherries, chocolate, tobacco, and spicy wood emerge from the 2020 Chateau Fonplegade, a medium-bodied, pure, balanced, elegant Saint-Emilion that comes from a gorgeous terroir on the Cote Pavie. Based on 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc that was raised in 50% new oak, it has building tannins, a layered, mouth-filling texture, and outstanding length. Give bottles 2-4 years in the cellar and enjoy over the following 10-15. It’s a complex, satisfying, impeccably made 2020.

Chateau Beychevelle 2020 Amiral De Beychevelle
$49.99 – $252.00Saint-Julien Bordeaux France
Jeb Dunnuck 93 Rating
The second wine of this terrific estate, which has been playing with the stars of the appellation for several years now, the 2020 Amiral De Beychevelle checks in as 54% Cabernet Sauvignon, 42% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc, and the rest Petit Verdot. It gives up a rich, juicy nose of ripe red and blue fruits, spring flowers, Christmas spice, and tobacco. Medium to full-bodied, it’s nicely textured, has velvety tannins, good mid-palate depth, and a great finish. I don’t think it’s one of the top second wines out there, but it’s still certainly an outstanding wine I’d be happy to have on the table.

Jankara 2022 Vermentino di Gallura Superiore
$19.99 – $216.00Sardinia Italy
Vinous 92 Rating
The 2022 Vermentino di Gallura Superiore is wickedly fresh, opening with a burst of white smoke and stone dust invigorated by candied citrus and mint. It’s silky and supple, nearly oily in feel, with zesty acidity to balance and crisp orchard fruits that cascade throughout. This leaves a tinge of sour lime while finishing long yet remarkably fresh, with a green apple crunch punctuating the experience. Nicely done.
