Frias Family 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon SMD

    $89.99

    Napa Valley California
    Wine Advocate 93 Rating
Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2017 SMD Cabernet Sauvignon Spring Mountain is redolent of crème de cassis, dried mulberries, fruitcake and fragrant earth, with hints of fallen leaves, tobacco leaf, earth, spice box and chocolate box. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is chock-full of spicy black fruit preserves with a firm, grainy texture and plenty of freshness, finishing long and layered. Only 547 cases were made.

Frias Family Vineyard 2020 Lady of the Dead

    $39.99

    Napa Valley California
The 2020 LADY OF THE DEAD features a dark fruit core of bramble berries, Morello cherry, candied fruits, vanilla, cedar, allspice and tilled earth along with notes of leather. The soft fruit entry comes with spiced dried fruits, a nice acid and tannin balance to support the medium weighted body and fruits that linger and gently gain weight. The bright plum-laced concentrated fruit finishes with an uptick of spices and toasted oak. R14-3

  • Frog's Leap 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon Rutherford

Frog’s Leap 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon Rutherford

    Price range: $49.99 through $270.00

    Napa Valley California
    Decanter Magazine 94 Rating
Sourced from dry-farmed vines in Rutherford, this wine underwent natural malolactic fermentation in barrel. It was aged for 20 months in French oak barrels ranging from new to five years old, with no more than 10% new oak and bottled unfined and unfiltered after two to three aeration rackings during ageing. The bold, muscular aromatics showcase liquorice, black olive, saddle leather, loamy earth, and pressed flowers. Full-bodied on the palate, it offers velvety tannins and an abundance of crunchy dark berry and currant character, layered with graphite. The tannins build with a dusty mineral quality, carrying through to a long, balanced finish. A robust and nuanced expression of Rutherford terroir.

A bright red color with orange highlights, the 2020 Brunello Di Montalcino is very pretty, with a delicate rustic hint that I find quite attractive. It reveals attractive red fruit on the nose, with notes of cranberries, wild herbs, and just a subtle hint of saddle leather and blood orange. Mid-weight, it’s light on its feet while delivering wonderful energy and freshness, with snappy ripe red fruit, a refreshing, angular feel, and mouthwatering saline and acidity. This is certainly one of the highlights of the 2020 vintage. Drink 2025-2040.

Do you have a favorite pair of jeans or a favorite dress that you keep in your closet for all occasions? That’s the equivalent of this wine. The G.D. Vajra 2021 Barolo Albe is an enormously versatile expression of Nebbiolo, with an affordable price, that offers more value for your money than most Barolos out there. The bouquet focuses on dark berry, pressed flower and crushed stone. It offers good sharpness over broad lines. The mouthfeel is medium-plus in texture and it closes with silky, accessible tannins. Fruit comes from three cru sites: Coste di Vergne, Fossati and La Volta. R17-6

  • Gagnon Kennedy 2020 Cabernet Sauvignon

    Gagnon Kennedy 2020 Cabernet Sauvignon

    $149.99

Monte Rosso Vineyard Moon Mountain District Sonoma
    Enjoyabilityfactor 97 Rating
The essence of the historic Monte Rosso Vineyard’s bright red volcanic soils appeared to be magically carried over into the aromatics and color of the wine during fermentation. However, post elevage and assemblage, the wine transmogrified itself into a cabernet of blue/black complexion. The aromatics are effusive of freshly baked mixed berry pie, cinnamon, allspice, bay leaf, and sweet cacaoa nibs from the 60% new French Oak barrels. On the palate, this wine is probably the least tannic in our entire portfolio of Cabernets. The pedigree of the Monte Rosso vineyard, especially considering the difficult growing conditions of the 2020 vintage, is exemplified by the intensity of fruit and electric minerality. The wine’s extended finish is enveloped with a welcoming intensity of medium-fine tannin.

    $84.99

Monte Rosso Vineyard Moon Mountain District Sonoma
Shy at first, this wine opens up with elevated notes of spearmint, ginger, and white tea flower on the nose. The 60% whole cluster appears to educate the overt fruitiness provided by the very warm 2022 vintage. In this 5 barrel production, we are able to access clear varietal character from the 3 neutral barrels, while the new Ermitage wood provides spice and chocolate and the Sylvain wood carries sweetness across the mid-palate. ~Marc Gagnon, Winemaker

Promis opens with floral aromas of wild rose and violet, then it turns into a more earthy bouquet with hints of maritime pine, eucalyptus, roots, wet stones. The palate is fresh and juicy, with notes of red and black fruits – raspberry, wild strawberry and mulberry. Creamy, smooth tannins. The final is sapid with a peculiar smoky and spicy character. With its notes of rosemary, wild fennel, embers, Promis perfectly mirrors the Mediterranean scrubland which surrounds it.
