A blend based on Petite Sirah, the 2022 Red Blend Machete features classic Petite Sirah aromas of black cherries, blueberries and licorice. Full-bodied and big-boned, this is very ripe, yet it’s surprisingly tart, mouthwatering and bright on the finish, framed by ripe, softly dusty tannins.

Another beautiful wine as well as a smoking value, the 2021 Merlot Blueline Estate (75% Merlot, 19% Cabernet Sauvignon, and tiny amounts of Petit Verdot and Malbec) has lots of up-front plum and black cherry fruits supported by lead pencil, chocolate, and savory herb aromas and flavors. It’s medium to full-bodied, has a ripe, supple mouthfeel, good mid-palate depth, and outstanding length. 800 cases.

This is Chardonnay at its most easy-going and crowd-pleasing. Ripe orchard fruit and citrus abound in your glass, but there’s still a light mineral spine and refreshing acidity that balance things out. Serve it at your next clam bake, crab boil, or the next time you find yourself seated on a bench at a long table with people you may or may not know. Everyone will love the Mâcon-Villages.

Keenly structured but a bit brooding in its expression for now, yet this retains plenty of dark raspberry, pomegranate, earthy mineral and black tea flavors that end with fine-grained tannins.

  • Purlieu Wines 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard

Purlieu Wines 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard

    $219.99

    Napa Valley California
    Jeb Dunnuck 97 Rating
Another brilliant wine in the lineup, the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard comes from one of the Grand Cru vineyards in the Valley and is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon. Its dense purple color is followed by classic, blockbuster To Kalon notes of blueberries, cassis, raspberries, flowery incense, unsmoked tobacco, and violets. This powerhouse of a Cabernet is full-bodied, has loads of ripe tannins, a layered mouthfeel, and a great finish. This vineyard performed exceptionally well in 2018, and this is a gorgeous, textbook expression of this terroir to enjoy over the coming two decades. R40-4 SP31-10

Orin Swift 2024 Eight Years in the Desert

    Price range: $39.99 through $210.00

    California
That first catches the eye is the opaque mauve core paired with a vivid fuchsia as it approaches the rim. Coating the glass, the 2024 Eight Years in the Desert opens with aromatics reminiscent of a black plum and boysenberry galette, Telli cherry peppercorn, cedar and musk. Taut yet supple on the entry, the palate exudes notes of wild blackberry, crispy pluot, a hint of fennel and slate. Pleasing texture on the finish, the soft framing tannins lead into a close of milk chocolate covered raspberry.
