Casanova di Neri 2021 Brunello di Montalcino
Price range: $69.99 through $384.00Tuscany Italy
Jeb Dunnuck 95 Rating
The 2021 Brunello Di Montalcino comes from a warm but not extreme growing season, helped by timely rain and a normal harvest window. It pours a deep ruby red hue and opens with black raspberries, violets, fresh earth, licorice, and rosemary. Medium to full-bodied, it feels more vertical and energetic than the 2020, with a bright spine of acidity, well-defined tannins, and a long, focused finish that stays light on its feet. Drink 2026-2040

Cherry and blackberry fruit define this linear, fluid red. There’s also a line of sinewy tannins that leaves its mark on the earthy, salty finish. Fine length. Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot. Best from 2027 through 2035.

Castellare 2023 Chianti Classico
Price range: $29.99 through $276.00Tuscany Italy
Decanter Magazine 91 Rating
Produced since 1979, Castellares annata sees its usual dollop of Canaiolo Nero as well as a brief passage in small French oak barrels. It is slightly confected to begin, then comes into focus with pure, fresh dark raspberry. Intense floral nuances of violet and rose join in, carrying over on the palate. It is concentrated in flavour with a light dusting of chalky tannins, while intrinsic juiciness keeps it agile. Admirable depth and length for the category. -Michaela Morris, Feb 2025

Castello dei Rampolla 2018 d’Alceo Toscana
$184.99Tuscany Italy
Vinous 99 Rating
The 2018 D’Alceo is a wild, exotic wine. Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot come together in a wine that is sumptuous, layered and exceptionally beautiful. Inky blue/purplish fruit, sage, mint, lavender and chocolate are some of the many notes that take shape. The 2018 was fermented in cement then aged 12 months in a combination of 500L tonneaux and barriques. This really blooms with time. Castello dei Rampolla’s Sammarco and D’Alceo have been benchmarks for several decades. Both 2018s will take their place among the best wines ever made here. Maurizia di Napoli and her brother, Luca, craft wines of notable intensity and pedigree. Biodynamic farming and low intervention winemaking are the rule. Of the two flagship wines, D’Alceo is a bit more opulent, likely because the terraced vineyards are south and south-east facing, while Sammarco has a bit more tannic backbone and energy. Both are off the charts great. SP44-6 -
Castello dei Rampolla 2019 Sammarco
Price range: $89.99 through $480.00Tuscany Italy
Wine Advocate 96 Rating
A blend of (organic and biodynamic) Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Sangiovese, the 2019 Sammarco is more austere and even robust compared to the punchier style prized throughout this portfolio. This is a firmly grounded wine, with a bigger baseline of aromas, spanning black fruit, baked plum, spice, tobacco and crushed limestone. You feel the natural concentration of the 2019 vintage and beautifully managed tannins in this wine.
