Another 100% Syrah release, the 2018 Côtes Catalanes Infiniment De L'Ou comes from vines near the estate, just south of Pepignon. It's a beautiful, round, soft, supple wine with lots of mulled black cherry and currant fruits, velvety tannins, an expansive, layered mouthfeel, and classic Syrah bacon fat, chocolate, peppery herbs, and tapenade aromas and flavors. Up-front and ready to go, it should keep for 4-6 years.

Font du Loup is quite unique in that our vineyards are on north-facing slopes and the soils have a high percentage of sand. These north-facing, sandy plots tend to ripen more slowly. As such, we harvest on average two weeks later than other estates. This results in wines that are more complex, aromatic and contain less alcohol. The style here is towards elegance and finesse rather than power and extraction. Our style adds a refreshing change of pace to a region whose wines have become a touch heavy. Made from Grenache Blanc, Roussanne, Clairette and Bourboulenc, this is a wildly aromatic white wine from Chateuneuf-du-Pape. Fairly round and full in the mouth with a sexy, almost oily texture. Tons of stone fruit, herbs, honeysuckle and citrus with a long, long finish.

Chateau de Lacarelle 2020 Beaujolais Villages

One of the oldest properties in Beaujolais, Château de Lacarelle is an outstanding estate with a history spanning over 250 years. The Durieu de Lacarelle family bought it in 1750 and had the good business sense to create a Paris-based company to sell the wines. Since then, the estate has passed from father to son, each generation inheriting the winemaking passion of the last.
At 150 hectares, the estate is large for the region, and much of the land is in the hands of ten trusted families of sharecropping tenants, known in French as métayage. The vines have an average age of almost 60 years, and are planted on the granitic soil that is typical of the northern half of Beaujolais, with a nearby flock of sheep providing the estate’s natural fertilizer.
