Ridge 2019 Monte Bello
$219.99Santa Cruz Mountains California
James Suckling 99 Rating

This is a very powerful Monte Bello with currants and blackberry, black licorice and smoked meat. Mint. Some sesame seed, too. It's full-bodied with incredible darkness and saltiness like volcanic salt. Umami. Grilled seaweed. Flavorful and captivating. It goes on for minutes. R11-3 SPBX-3 -
Ridge Vineyards 2019 Estate Cabernet Sauvignon Monte Bello Vineyard
$69.99Santa Cruz Mountains California
Decanter Magazine 96 Rating
True to the vineyard’s mountain site, up to 814m (2,670ft} in altitude, exposed to the cold Pacific, the wine has vivid cassis purity and a touch of green sage. 16 months in 58% new American oak may have rounded the edges of the wine, but none of that oak shows up in the wine’s flavor—exquisite structure and balance. Ridge’s Estate Cabernets come from old blocks in the Monte Bello Vineyard, but blocks that Paul Draper and John Olney feel tend to produce a wine that’s more accessible young than the blocks used for Ridge’s top wine, Monte Bello. Be that as it may, the Estate Cabernet blend comprised of 88% Cabernet Sauvignon, 11% Merlot and 1% Petite Verdot drinks like a sophisticated ageworthy wine. R11-5 -
Ridolfi 2018 Brunello di Montalcino

The intensely herbal nose starts with a powerful flash of anise, then softens with notes of fennel, sage, soil and cherries. On the palate, the herbs and cherries create a round, slick texture, but a dusting of bitter cocoa, along with framing tannins and self-assured acid, provide balance.

Roar Wines 2021 Soberanes Vineyard Pinot Noir
$74.99Santa Lucia Highlands California
Wine Enthusiast 94 Rating
If seeking out a flavorful, attention-commanding Pinot Noir, this is a satisfying choice, starting with baked black cherry and a spice rack of aromas on the nose. There’s a chalky texture that wraps around the undeniably ripe flavors of black cherry, black plum and rich spices on the unctuous palate. -
Robert Biale Vineyards 2019 Basic Black Red Blend
$54.99 – $276.00California
International Wine Review 92 Rating
Far from basic, the ‘Basic Black’ is a compelling blend of 26% Grenache, 19% Early Burgundy, 17% Tempranillo, 14% Syrah, 12% Carignan and 12% Zinfandel sourced from largely Sonoma County as well as Napa Valley. This highly complex bottling shows black tea, boysenberry liquor, cigar ash and mocha aromatics on the nose. Forward and rich, this displays nice combination of dark and red fruits on the palate with smoky undertones.

Robert Foley 2016 Merlot
$59.99Napa Valley California
Jeb Dunnuck 93 Rating
Starting with the 2016 Merlot from Foley, this beauty comes from a mix of mountain and valley floor sites and was brought up all in French oak. Loads of ripe black cherries, tobacco, chocolate, and dried earth give way to a medium to full-bodied, rounded, beautifully textured Merlot. I love its purity of fruit and it’s already impossible to resist. It’s going to evolve for over a decade. R23-3 SP17-2 -
Robert Foley Vineyards 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon
$89.99Napa Valley California
Jeb Dunnuck 94 Rating
Not far off the flagship cuvée, the 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley is 100% varietal sourced from Howell Mountain, Atlas Peak, Mt. Veeder, and Calistoga. It spent 18 months in just 40% new French oak. This full-bodied, incredibly classic Cabernet offers impressive crème de cassis, graphite, and lead pencil notes, terrific mid-palate depth, a wonderful sweetness in its fruit, and a great finish. It’s another terrific wine from this estate that you can drink today or cellar for 15 years or more. R30-3 SP22-2
