Hartford Court 2024 Chardonnay Russian River Valley
Price range: $24.99 through $120.00Sonoma County California
Vinous 92 Rating
The 2024 Chardonnay (Russian River Valley) really overdelivers. It’s an ideal expression of the Russian River Valley, with all the bright, sunny orchard fruit and spritzy citrus lift you could hope for, but also an extra measure of freshness and juiciness that leaves the mouth watering. Notably restrained, the 2024 shows excellent finesse, especially for an appellation-level bottling.

The 2023 Pinot Noir Russian River Valley is also from the Russian River Valley. It’s a bright ruby color and boasts a seductive perfume with notes of fresh leather, ripe cherries, sweet spices, and forest earth. Hartford Family Winery 2023 Old Vines Zinfandel
Price range: $39.99 through $216.00Russian River Valley California
Jeb Dunnuck 95 Rating
Pouring a dark magenta/purple color, the 2023 Zinfandel Russian River Valley is deeper, offering notes of black cherry cordial, dark chocolate, lavender oils, wet stones, and dark sappy earth. The palate is full-bodied, with a broad-shouldered tannic structure that has an even feel, while refreshing acidity holds this wine together. It’s well-structured and has the ability to age over the coming 10 years.

Harvey & Harriet 2023 Red Blend
Price range: $24.99 through $240.00San Luis Obispo County California
The Tasting Panel 94 Rating
This blend of 62% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Syrah, 9% Petite Sirah, 8% Petit Verdot, 5% Malbec, and 2% each of Grenache and Mourvèdre is a terrific overachiever in relation to its price. Full-bodied but not overbearing, it successfully melds the class of Cabernet with more brambly berry notes from the other varieties. Enduringly interesting but also flat-out delicious.

Harvey & Harriet 2024 White Blend
Price range: $19.99 through $180.00San Luis Obispo County California
A fun, medium gold tone at first glance. Hints of tangerine, pineapple, and honeydew exude from your glass in this aromatically driven delight. A subtle saltiness with nutmeg undertones lead you into this lighter in body wine that still manages to possess a unique, restrained creaminess that can be appreciated by all. The burst of bright, refreshing acidity leaves one immediately ready for the next sip. The precise and understated oak finish show that this playful wine has a serious side to it as well. Be ready to drink this as soon as you get home on a warm, summer evening or as an addition to your meal with lighter fare. For those that are patient, you will most definitely be rewarded with a cool complexity as this wine ages gracefully.

Haynes Vineyard 2021 ‘Forgeron’ Syrah Coombsville
Price range: $149.99 through $750.00Napa Valley California
Antonio Galloni 96 Rating
The 2021 Syrah Forgeron emerges from a block planted in 2000. Rich, deep and layered in the glass, the 2021 is so inviting. Here, too, the stems (100%) are impeccably balanced within the wine’s frame. Readers will find a potent yet delicate Syrah with a good deal of floral and spice notes, but less in the way of savory/peppery impressions.

Heinz Eifel Beerenauslese (375 ml)
Price range: $19.99 through $210.00Rheinhessen Germany
100% Silvaner, ‘Beerenauslese (literally “individual berry selection”) is a wine made from hand-selected individual grapes that have been affected by botrytis cinerea or ‘noble rot’, a fungus that dehydrates the berries and adds a unique honeyed flavor to the wines. This rare condition in the vineyard allows for the extraction of very concentrated flavors and sugars in the tiny amount of dehydrated juice of the affected grapes. The resulting wine is extremely rich, dense and viscous with a unique profile. Often, Beerenauslese is called ‘BA’ for short.

James Suckling 98 Rating
Structured and powerful with chewy and firm tannins with a light vanilla and currant undertone. Full bodied. Juicy and savory. Luscious and intense yet polished. Tension, energy and wonderful length and brightness. Drinkable but needs another three to four years to come around. R4-4 SP26-2 -
Heitz Cellar 2018 Trailside Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon
$155.99Rutherford, Napa Valley California
Wine Spectator 94 Rating
Sleek and focused, with notes of damson plum, red currant coulis and dark cherry preserves corseted tightly with singed tobacco, cast iron and loam accents. Cedar and sanguine notes add a twang amid the dark fruit, giving the finish a mouthwatering edge. A little patience required. Best from 2026 through 2040. 4,627 cases made. BX-6
