    Wine Spectator 94 Rating
Hay, freshly cut grass and loam aromas segue to a core of cherry that pulls this together. The sweet fruit handles the burly tannins well, ending in a cascade of eucalyptus and tobacco notes. Best from 2023 through 2043. R10-2

  • Paolo Scavino 2015 Barolo

    $59.99

    Piedmont Italy
    Wine Advocate 93 Rating
For a few years running now, this has been one of the Scavino family’s signature bottles. The goal here is to aim higher than your standard “base” or “classico” Barolo. The Paolo Scavino 2015 Barolo is made with a complicated blend of fruit from seven vineyard sites spread clear across the appellation from Castiglione Falletto, Barolo, Serralunga d’Alba and more townships. Each parcel is fermented separately, and some parcels are split into two or more individual fermentations. In order to maintain the highest quality standards, some 10% of the fruit is sold off as bulk, and once the overall selection is whittled down, the best fruit remains in-house. This is a compact and darkly saturated wine with bold blueberry and blackberry fruit. The wine shows a steady center of gravity in this warm, fruit-driven vintage. R45-2

  • Paolo Scavino 2016 Barolo Monvigliero

    $79.99

    Piedmont Italy
    Wine Enthusiast 97 Rating
Iris, woodland berry, menthol and exotic spice scents shape the enticing nose. It’s firm and elegantly structured, delivering red cherry, spiced cranberry and licorice before a minty finish. Finegrained tannins and fresh acidity lend balance and support. Hold for even more complexity. Drink 2026–2036. SP46-2

  • Paolo Scavino 2016 Barolo Prapò

    $74.99

    Piedmont Italy
    Wine Advocate 96 Rating
The Paolo Scavino 2016 Barolo Prapò (with fruit from Serralunga d'Alba) opens to a beautifully saturated appearance with bold fruit aromas of black cherry, plum and dried currant. Those rusty mineral notes that are so distinctive of this growing area come through loud and clear. This is the second harvest to emerge from this plot of land in Prapò that the Scavino family purchased in 2008 and replanted two years later. We're off to a great start with high-scoring and cellar-worthy wines from both 2015 and 2016. I'd give a slight edge to this vintage, thanks to the sharp precision and linearity of its aromas. R45-1

  • Paolo Scavino Rosso Vino da Tavola

    $13.99$144.00

    Piedmont Italy
Rosso is a blend which represents our autochthon varietals. The grapes from the younger vines of the Estate combined together, offer a fresh, aromatic, charming wine with a Piedmontese character. Brilliant ruby-red with purple hints. Expressive, continuous and delicate aromas of red cherries and spices. Fresh in the nose and in the palate. Supple and joyful structure where the flavors are persistent and of a light nature. A delicious red which expresses the brightness of the youth, to drink over the next year or two. Pretty easy with food pairings. Nice to combine with vegetarian dishes as well as with light antipasti, white meat, bluefish, fresh goat cheeses.
