The 2020 Jersey Girl embodies our love for not only blends but also co-fermentations. At the core of the blend is one of our darkest clones of Syrah, clone 383, and a co-fermentation of Syrah, Viognier, and Graciano harvested on the same day. Several other Syrah-based co-fermentations were blended into the Jersey Girl to add mid-palate richness, with color and spicy and earthy notes from the Graciano and Tannat. Overall about 7% of Syrah was fermented as whole cluster to add more spice, floral notes, and complex fruit aromatics.

Both bud break and flowering occurred a bit late, but under ideal weather conditions, creating plentiful and even fruit set. The relatively mild summer followed by extended fall sunshine and moderate heat created near-ideal conditions for the fruit to accumulate flavor complexity with gradual increases in sugar levels. 31% Cabernet Franc 22% Petit Verdot, 22% Cabernet Sauvignon, 17% Malbec and 8% Merlot withb27 Months French Oak.

The 2020 Château Saint-Pierre (Saint-Julien) looks to be beautiful, with a fresher, focused, yet still powerful style that fits nicely into the vintage. Lots of black and blue fruits, crushed stone, and graphite define the nose, and it’s full-bodied, with a great mid-palate, ripe yet building tannins, and a great finish.
